Remove DRRRROID brand sound from startup

I have a droid incredible and muting the media sound does not mute the start up "droid" on my phone, unfortunately.
I really need to get the droid start up to stop but i'm not sure how to root, i've downloaded z4root onto my computer and connected the phone to the usb port but i have a feeling what its letting me access isn't what i need, its showing "CD DRIVE (G) CDROM 0 bytes free of 5.85 MB".

It turns itself on and off in the middle of the night and i have to turn the phone off to make it stop, if i could just get the "droid" sound to stop it wouldnt be a bother anymore. if anyone can help me i'd reaaally appreciate it.

You need to download a file manager and browse to /system/customize/resource after rooting your phone. From there, you can rename the .ogg or .mp3 file to stop it from playing.

Thanks

Worked for me, a couple of years after the post. Just changing the name of the file as the poster identified does the trick (presuming your phone is rooted).
