There are a few reasons why you will get the PIN for unlocking your phone:
For my DX, I followed the instructions located here: https://motorola-global-portal.cust...ntry_code/US/p_reference/moto_integration.php
For me, this worked and my phone is PIN free now.
For one of my friends, that didn't work at first, the "NONE" option was still grayed out after removing his Exchange account. He had to go in and remove his exchange account from the phone, then remove the Device Administrator(s) from his Settings, then follow the instructions above, and it finally worked.
There are a few reasons why you will get the PIN for unlocking your phone:
- Your Exchange Administrator created a policy that requires you to put in a PIN.
- Your phone does not have the latest OS update (2.2.1). Note: The 1st release of 2.2 Froyo software does not allow you to remove the PIN.
- You upgraded your phone from 2.1 to 2.2, then from 2.2 to 2.2.1 all while having an Exchange Account setup on your phone.
