Report your ICS on Razr experience here.

In addition my slashgear app now stopped working too. That is now 3 apps that either don't work or crash often

I just installed 4.04 ics on my Razr via OTA push on July 5. I really cannot comment on ICS until I can use it for more than an hour or so, without completely draining my battery.
I used to be able to go nearly all day even with 4G LTE enabled (no streaming). In observation of other posts within the Droid RAZR Forum, this experience is not at all unique.
I would have waited to apply the update, but since Verizon doesn't use the same (Android) build numbers when advertising an available update, I thought it was just an incremental and allowed it to proceed. - Big mistake. There are a load of bugs to fix, the rapid battery drain being the most significant.
As someone who is very familiar with software testing and QC, I am astonished at the lack of effort put forth all invovled to ensure a quality release.
Not that I would buy one, but somehow the Windows Nokia phone commercial is ringing very true about now; man do I feel like a major beta tester.

I was trying to avoid a factory reset. That is a PIA to recover from and I really don't have that kind of time right now.
Thanks for the response.

Well, typically with any major new operating system, such as ICS, it is best to do a factory reset. Think of it this way... If you were running vista on your pc and upgrading vista to windows 7, it would highly recommend you to do a factory rest to get rid of os functions that might conflict with each other. Your pc could go crazy without such a wipe. Same with your phone. It allows your programs to install and load using the best optimization of the new operating system rather than having to sort through and running remnants of settings from the old operating system.

That is a good analogy and I agree with it. All the more reason that Verizon should have announced (say through billing) that ICS was being deployed. At least then I would have known not to accept the OTA update.
Now that it's been foisted upon me I will have to make the time to deal with it.
Thanks again.

It really is not all that bad. Use "my backup" and "SMS backup and restore" from play store and backup your apps, data, etc, etc. Backup your launcher settings and other apps you want backed up. Do the fdr just for the phone (not your internal or external sd cards). When you reactivate your phone, re-install "My backup" and you can restore most all your settings, call logs, etc from that. I actually reinstall my apps from play store and any that don't automatically load my settings, I fall back on "My backup." It will take you a few hours to get your phone back to the way it was but it will be well worth it.

And after you back up your data, go I to privacy and unselect back up and restore, then do the fdr.. clean wipe, clean install.. :) hi tis!!!! How are ya ;)

@tismydroi,

For us geeks factory resets are fine, but as my is fond of reminding, most people are clueless regarding technology. My point? No one should have to jump through hoops to get their smart phone to work with stock apps and settings.

Having said that I like ICS and all of my toys.

Clueless as some may be... getting a smartphone is much like a computer. If you have either , you have to learn some fundamental "tasks " to help insure that you have a decent experience. This is true with all forms of computers, even iOS products.. :)

If you went into any cell phone store and complained your phone was acting up no matter what the reason, more than likely they would suggest a factory reset or just do it for you. So it's not like it's a crazy concept. If my computer is running like crap i do a factory reset. It's a necessary evil if you ask me.

Hi 94! Doing good! How 'bout you? I just did a fdr only cuz I also wanted to do one after ICS. It took me about 3 hours (with several phone call interruptions) to set about 90% of it back up. Well worth 3 hours for a smooth running phone, if you ask me.

Update: performed a factory reset and restored data. Reset took a few minutes but setting up and reorganizing apps and accounts took a few hours. The good news is that it is much more stable and battery life is at least as good as with GB even with 4G LTE enabled.
Now I'm looking for tools that will speed the reinstall/recovery process should I need to do this again.
