Ok, I know the title is kinda cheesy but hey, I figured we might as well stick to the Star Wars theme with all this R2-D2 Droid2 talk lately. The Motorola Droid is back online and available through VerizonWireless.com. Verizon must have have found a stockpile of Droids they still need to deploy before they can completely retire it. Big red is also showing the HTC Droid Incredible in Stock and ready to ship. Seems like good timing with the Incredible Froyo update rumored to hit tomorrow (August 18th).

Glad to see the giant isn't dead so prematurely. I still thoroughly enjoy the original Droid and wouldn't even think of "upgrading" until 4g is a way of life. Long live the Droid!!!

+1...I love my OD (original Droid) and can't imagine moving on to the next phone until I know it'll have similar or better capabilites with root.

Great Thread Title...I agree the Droid still has life left, I expect that we will see ROMs made with GingerBread Crumbs for the Original Droid before the year is up

With the DI, DX, and D2 selling for $199, doesn't Verizon think that $149 is a but much for the D1? For months now you've been able to get the D1 from authorized retailers for free. Heck, at Wirefly you could get it for free, plus get $80 Bing Cashback!

Yeah not sure how much they will sell of them because heck even at walmart they are only 50$ now. Something that amazed me when i looked and they were still trying to sell them for 200$ when even the DI and now the X out.

I'll be sticking with my Droid until something better comes along, & by better I mean Rootable, stock vanilla Android OS (none of this SenseUI/Motoblur nonsense), & 4G.

Miami pointed out that if you use a replacement launcher MotoBlur/SenseUI go away, at least on the X. I like ADW so much it's going on my next phone unless something better comes along. :)

Love the droid............. I'm glad to see that it's back

Looks like they already finished the rest of the stock off. & for those saying stuff about it being 149.99 I agree with you but please do not compare it to authorized dealers as they can offer the low low price by locking you down for 6-months where as Verizon you are buying the phone and you really don't have any restrictions.

I heard somewhere this morning while flipping radio stations that not everyone received the update and the updated in zones. I am a heavy channel surfer between local stations and XM, but I think logically I stalled on the local DJ when I caught the upgrade bit. I have mine, I was not initially for it, and its been fine for me. I just could not afford som of the unknowns to risk it ane not install it just on the fly. I had to bw in the right place at the right time......

Still love my Droid and constantly serves my needs, so let it be known I am not having the need to go shopping for the new Droids. If it ain't broken ....don't fix it.

If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

Picked up and X, rooted and ditched some of the bloatware, then loaded up Launcher Pro and some other goodies, blur is all but non-existent. runs awesome.
