[Review] xScope Browser

Youtube links

I also enjoy this browser but I have one major issue. I am often keeping track of what has happened today on Reddit.com and sometimes they will have a youtube video.
-On Dolphin it will prompt me with the option to watch the video via youtube video player on my moto droid.
-On xScope I just get the youtube web page saying I need flash media to watch the video.

Is there a way to fix this?
Sadly, I had to make dolphin my default browser again till this is fixed because I really dislike the youtube app for keeping up to date on my subscriptions and just searching for certain videos. Also like I said if someone links me a video in my browser reddit or otherwise I won't be able to view it in xScope like I can in dolphin.

Well, to tell you the truth, the standard API doesn't even have a way to zoom to a specific level. All it has is 125% or 80% kind of deal. So developers have to 'hack' into the original webview to achieve continuous zooming effect.
The stock browser, believe it or not, is never a standard SDK API app. It enjoys many backdoors that third party developers just don't without any shortcut hack. For example, the 'Overview' mode. It is available publicly only after 2.1 but the stock browser of 2.0 is using it. There is no anti-aliasing option as I read the latest API yet.

thanks for that technical clarification... :)

For those of you running stock, xScope on ESE53 ROMs (Android 2.1)actually picks up a performance gain for free, since it appears the display anti-aliasing is now publicly integrated in the API display class calls that Gary is making. B-)

Me, I like X-Scope over the stock browser. Scope to me is much more easier to navigate through. A key essential in a browser.

Please set you user agent back to android.
I tested just and it works fine for me.
Your user agent has to be mobile, either android or iPhone to play the video.
If you set your useragent to be computer, youtube simple send you content that requires flash to play.

I was reluctant to buy this browser... I for the most part was happy with the stock browser. Then I figured why not.. its only a few bucks. So I gave it a shot. And I have to say it is the single best app I've bought for my Droid! It is simply amazing! It is not only faster then the default.. but brings way more functionality to the Droid. I love the tabs. It makes browsing mutable sites a breeze. The lastest update made the bookmarks look so much better. It is now my default browser! Thanks x scope for making a wonderful functional product!

Ditto.
I can't recall having a single problem with xScope.
Really like that tabs open in the background. Will be reading something and find a link, it opens but I never lose my place on the page I'm reading (especially news articles and forums).

I've been using xScope Lite for the past couple days and although it's a little jerky sometimes it's still nice due to the added features. I intend to keep using it as it may well become my go to browser.

Thanks for the review guys, as always we shall continue to upgrade and improve for you all

I've had the XScope for a few months now and won't use anything else. One question for the developer though:

One of the recent updates added this window prompt when I go to close and it gives me four options on the "Time to say goodbye" screen. This is new as I used to just be able to hit the bottom left button on the Droid a couple of times and it would close the browser. This new window is highly annoying. I've looked to see if there was a default way to get it to close without prompting for an answer but don't see one.

Is there a way to make this a user selected option where our choice would be remembered? That would be great.

Must fix the problem when using useragent as a desktop pc to show that you're entering a password. Love the app but this is one area which works most of the time but very difficult to enter that password into the field.

The latest update should have fixed that. Only when you long click BACK you will get the options. Otherwise it just quitely exit if no more back history left. Thanks

Yep, just got the update (apparently missed it earlier when I upgraded to 2.1) and now it closes just like I was used to. Thanks! Awesome browser BTW.

Anyone running 2.1 to shed anylight on this?
