My mother recently got a Samsung Galaxy Nexus and neither of us know how to change the sounds for different notifications. (For example: facebook, her emails, etc.) I've been searching all over the internet, and have been on her phone for hours trying to figure it out but I haven't figured it out. Please help!

You do this in each individual app, if it is allowable. By that I mean, you open up one of the apps, press the menu button (3 dots) go to settings , then change the notification tone for it. Then repeat this process for each app you want a different tone for. Some may not have an option, but most should. If the app doesn't, there may be an alternative app with more options in the market.
