[ROM] [8/24/11] - SSD2 0.2 - Built From Source - GB 2.3.5

Just got me a droid 2! It was "bricked" and had no battery, got it for $25.... brought it ho,e, popped my d1 battery in it, sbf'd it and it runs like an effin champ...of course this is the first rom I'm out to try....I can second what was mentioned above about battery icon on themed version....only used it for couple hours now....besides that, the only other thing I notice wrong is no wireless n connection to my n router...only connected at G...is this a known thing? Not sure as I just got this droid, not had too much time to do research on it.

Craigslist. Like I said, the guy thought it was bricked because it was stuck at M logo. I knew from my experience with the d1 that it could probably be flashed with sbf using rsdlite and be just fine. And what'ya know, flashed it with rsdlite to froyo, then rooted and moved to custom roms. There ain't a single thing wrong with this phone and its got a clean ESN also. The guy upgraded to a thunderbolt because he thought the d2 was broke. And it had no battery but my d1 battery works perfect so far. The cheapest, best phone I ever bought. I did take a small risk at wasting $25 but with SBF file available, these droids are almost unbrickable, so I took the risk, very glad I did. I been one happy mofo all day long.....lol....

Yea, my gf's about to bi*** slap me cuz I won't shutup about my $25 droid 2....lol....search CL daily for bricked phones and you'll find something like I did.....

I have noticed no wireless N connection with any GB roms I've tried, I've only got wireless N wth the froyo sbf so far......must be a GB thing that needs worked out..... wireless N woukd be great because I've got 60MB internet and according to speedtest.net app on several different servers I've only pushed 12mb.....my pc gets the full 60 on wifi N connection....the pc actually pushes closer to 80 on speedtest.net....would love to be able to use closer to the max of my net connection on my droid 2 if that's possible....I would expect at least around 20....other thn that and batt icon issues this roms seems rock solid and blazing fast for me....

Okay I just downloaded rom tonight, looks good, and runs smooth. Couple questions though do we stop using bootstrap recovery, I read that droid x users do and I wanted to double sure of this. Also anybody having problems with there alt lock button on slide out keyboard.

I cant comment on the alt lock button but you definitely do not want to use bootstrap. Thats not a droid x thing, its a 2nd-init ROM thing which SS is one of them.

Alt-lock will never work on an true AOSP ROM. The keyboard map does not support it. It's a function of blur frameworks. The only workaround is to double press alt.

The only way to have that functionality is to use an AOSP-like ROM. Apex is one. Most of blur has been removed so it "looks" like pure Android, but the blur framework is still underneath; thus alt-lock functionality.

I never use alt lock. Why do I keep hearing about alt lock? Like its so important? I just don't get it.

With the beauty of this rom, ill deal with no alt lock.

It doesn't work on mine either and i'm on stock rooted Rom, it must be a hardware fault on some phones

Can't blame the phones hardware, I think its explained as when cm7 was ported originally to the Droid (og) it doesn't have an alt lock and this was built with the same mapping....I think that is why it doesn't work on second init...I could be wrong, but its something I read back in the day! (Months back) lol

Thinks everyone for the words of wisdom, so the only method should be holding power button when phone is on and rebooting into recovery.

Yup thats all you really need to do. There is always the option to use the Reboot Recovery function in ROM Manager. But it has been mentioned in this thread to not be working properly.
