[ROM] [BETA] CyanogenMod 7 for Droid 2

Downloaded and flashed the latest nightly (6/29) ALT key is still not working, dictionary when using the hard keys still doesn't work. The hard key light is working now and the native torch app is also working now. The ALT key is a killer, so is the no dictionary while keyboard typing

Alt Key works fine, both single press, and double (which acts like Alt Lock).

Alt Lock key doesn't work, but double-press on Alt key makes that mostly irrelevant.

If your Alt key isn't working something is off - works fine on mine, and I've not heard any other feedback about it not working.

Yeah, from what I've hear the alt-lock is all that is broken. And as far as the dictionary, are you talking about the spell checking that was built into GB? Cuz if so, that's not a huge deal to me. It's nice, but I dealt without it while I was still on Froyo, so I can go without for a while if necessary.

Something is off then because my ALT key does not function at all. And yes, I was referencing the spell check (that still works when in touchscreen/portrait mode), I liked having it in keyboard/landscape

Not sure what to say about ur alt key... other than the stock answer of "try wiping/fresh install"
As for the dictionary I miss it too, just never remember to look into it while I'm deving lol I'll see what I can find when I get home (out and about right now)

It is all good, I appreciate all the work everyone has done. I am going to wipe and install again and see if I can get my ALT key because I would really like that. I assume all will be good eventually though. Still pretty baller to have CM7 on the D2

Can someone tell me how to install google apps? I forgot to install them after I installed cyanogenmod
this is what I did
installed cyanogenmods latest build for d2
Booted up and went into from manager
Downloaded gapps
I hit install after the download was complete
It went into clockwork and said installation failed aborted so I tried to manually install them and I get the Same message! Really frustrated at the moment

go to the ROM manager:

the 3rd option down is "install ROM from SD card" select the clockworkmod/download/goo-inside.me/gapps/---.zip from there. i had the same problem and this worked

Try toggling signature verification to disabled in recovery then flash the zip as you would a rom or anything else.

Its really up to you. You can always try just wiping cache and dalvik cache when flashing a new nightly, however if you are having problems with the current nightly is generally a good idea to wipe data also.

I wipe everything with every flash. I use titanium backup and do a Batch backup, and once I get the phone flashed, I do a batch restore to restore my user apps, then restore my sms/mms, then reset my theme, and setup my homescreens. I've done it so many times now its like 2nd nature and takes me less than 15 minutes to get back to where I was prior to flashing...
