[ROM]FRF91 AOSP Fission - Beta Preview

Alright, I've done some playing around and here's what I've found.

1. The native 3G hotspot app does not work with this build. So long access point.

2. The Blur cardock app has issues with the google music app. I like the blur cardock better, so I've been installing it on blurless roms. I didn't install the blur music player, so installing both may fix this issue. Also, the new vanilla theme gives the cardock app a grey background, which reduces visibility.

3. The Blur media gallery does not work with this build either. So long HDMI output. The google one is much more responsive though.

4. The Blur alarm clock doesn't work with this build. I'm probably the only one who cares, but it was a good app. It allowed for gentle volume increase as alarm played and mp3 selection as alarm; things the vanilla app doesn't. I'll just have to hunt down a third party app to do with.

5. The Blur camera app _does_ work with this build. It's a good thing, because the vanilla camera app, as people have noticed, is a bit meager.

Anyway, this rom is causing me to break my blur addiction, which is probably a good thing.

EDIT: Also, for an alpha, this thing is ridiculously stable.

I'm working on porting aspects of the blur camera app, to the vanilla one.
For hdmi out... real hdmi still works :D i'll see if there isn't something I can do for that as well

LOOOVVEEE IT! A few bugs but nothing major aside from the calender (which will be fixed, maybe today). I did have a question though. I still have the stock X keyboard (the one with the copy/paste bubble), which I actually enjoy having. I just wanted to know if that's the keyboard I'm supposed to have on this ROM, or did something not wipe correctly? What about you guys?

Were gonna fix the callendar, not sure why it isn't there. Also you are suppose to have the stock keyboard, the normal LatinIME kept crashing over and over.

That was my fault, I forgot to include it :( and I do have the vanilla keyboard working as well.. I need to get with you and AngDroid when I get off work

Okay so after doing every task I normally do and more, and not really putting this thing down!;

Messaging, E-Mail, Phone, Camera, Browser, Wifi-tether, Mac connect, media sync..

Heres what I have noticed, much of which has already been mentioned;

- Font contrast (although I don't mind the white on grey)
- Calendar
- auto brightness
- Camera zoom and connect to gallery from camera mode. Also, Not sure what camera resolution or settings are although this is the .apk not the rom.
- Slider when answering a phone is blurry and screwed up
- Would like to see vanilla lock screen (no biggy)

Good:
- Very fast, everything!
- no FC or reboots what so ever, and every app works seamlessly
- Stock Browser is fastest I've ever seen, including compared to dolphin and opera. Also my wifi tether seems faster.
- tranq launcher is faster then all other stock rom launchers although not as quick as I'm used to with LP+
- Free memory is over 200mb almost always (AWESOME)

If I think of anything else I'll edit.

THANS AGAIN THIS ROM IS FANTASTIC. Glad I took the plunge from my rubix .5/revoR2/LP+ rom/theme (which I loved), because this has the potential to destroy everything else (if not already).

Wow, EXCELLENT rom. Seriously, this is fantastic. I installed my custom theme (just a framework-res.apk and services.jar) and it works perfectly. Also installed the standard blur music application and the blur photo gallery (the WJD black background one) and no problems. Also zoom and resolution change in the camera works (the little gear icon thing) but the max resolution is 5mp, which makes me think it's the D2's app.

I'm not going to beat the calendar dead horse, the 3g mobile hotspot doesn't install, and the double click app launch still seems to be present, and still interferes with quickdesk. Other than these and the camera issues the rom is excellent. Thanks for the hard work!

Anyway to get Backup Assistant to work with this?

I really wish Motorola didn't suck so hardcore and I didn't have to use Backup Assistant in the first place. Is there anyway to sync Backup Assistant to your Google Contacts?

Amazing work!

Upgraded from 2.3.13 leak (second leak prior to OTA). Followed the directions to a T, rebooted and voila!

Installed Titanium Backup and let it do it's thing and I'm back up and running.

REALLY fast, clean. Working perfectly for me so far - no issues with any apps, settings, etc. Noticed some weirdness with auto screen brightness not working right, but that could just be specific to me.

I installed BlurCamera.apk, but only for video recording. (I use Vignette for photos.)

Calendar sync would be great, but it's not a showstopper for me.

This is EXACTLY what I wish my X was out of the box. dancedroid

Is there a way to link a facebook or twitter account to the phone and contacts? I haven't bothered in a long while because blur's implementation blew, but I don't think it's working at all here.

Even at 5mp pictures look good enough for my likibg, I don't really mind losing some features of blur to have a more responsive camera

Your mini-review was great. I was wondering about the camera and general stability, you answered them for me. Thanks.

Also, thanks for this review. I think I'll try this ROM this weekend.
