ROM Manager app

Okay when you go into Rom Manager, at the very top is "Flash ClockwordMod Recovery" and right under that is shows your current recovery and latest recovery. What does it say there?

Reboot into recovery. I think before it said reboot into something or another for manual mode so I guess it did work. I must have missed that before. So I assume I just click that and reboot into recovery and create a backup now and then I can proceed with a new ROM?

Also, not sure if this is related or not but I rebooted the phone shortly after that because I needed to change the battery and upon rebooting I received the OTA 2.1 update message which I haven't seen in a month or more so I'm not sure what clicking that did but it appears to have done something I guess.

I don't know much else about the questions in this thread, but I will say I'm on DroidMod and for whatever reason it showed me the 2.1 OTA update again today for the first time since it launched. It has nothing to do with your ROM manager experiments. Just thought I'd let you know.

Noo I mean what does it say for your current and latest recovery? Are they the same?

It doesn't show anything because I haven't yet rebooted into recovery. I assume this will allow me to create a backup and once that is done perhaps I will have some specs to give you but I think I've got it figured out now since that text I mentioned changed. I'll boot into recovery and create a backup and then I bet doors open up for me.

Guess its not as simple as it appears in the video.

uhhh... there's a video? Where? I bet if I watched that it would all make more sense but I wasn't aware there was a video.

Thanks, that's good to know. It was odd that it occurred immediately after I did this & rebooted so I assumed the two were related.

Nope, it flashes the recovery without rebooting. You don't need to create a backup either, that won't change anything.

Click "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" and choose Droid, and then let it be for a bit. It will download and flash it for you.

Something is up with my phone specifically. I searched You Tube and found a video on how to do it and it's different from my experience towards the beginning. When he clicks the top most option there is a download status bar and from that point forward it's all different. His status bar pops up near the top almost instantly and I have left it at this same screen for several minutes and that never happens with my phone. I tried it several times and am in a good 3G coverage area so at this point I suspect a bad install of ROM Manager from the market. I've uninstalled and will reinstall after a quick reboot and see if this helps.

Installed it again and noted that upon opening the top two options are white and all the rest of the options are grayed out. I click the top option and while there is no status bar after I click it....I take that back. I left it on the screen for a looooong time and now I get that yellow status bar at the top. No idea why it took over 5min to start but finally... I feel like I'm getting somewhere.
