[ROM] MIUI.us-Sholes-1.7.1.0

Thus far I don’t think there is one stable D1 build with all issues fixed. This comes with the process and where we are with respect to the process; that is we, as users who are not in China and specifically D1 users.

Also, though the rom is based on CM it is not open source, which means the job of developers porting it is much harder, because they can’t address bugs on the level of code.

Factor all of this into the reality of the unpredictable way individual phones play with various builds, kernels, work-a-rounds, fixes and other stuff, and we end up with a situation where there’s not a one-size-fits-all solution that might lead to one stable build with all issues fixed.

So are you saying that it is not possible to get a stable MIUI build for the OG Droid? I mean, with all the issues that the Team D1 folks have already fixed, it seems as if it is possible.

Even if 90% of issues were addressed and fixed, that would be huge in my book. I'm not saying the Rom must be perfect, I'm saying give the D1 MIUI community something that could be called "stable", based upon one iteration of the Rom, where most issues have been addressed per a bug reporting thread, that all newer beta Roms are compared against.

As metalspring wrote, these builds are mostly stable. Yes, taking into account all of the issues that the developers have fixed, one might think it is possible. Though broader reality is only partially made up of what we think. Given all of the variables I outlined it may not be possible.

Again, realize how much is out of the direct control of the porting developers with respect to influencing what they get to work with, as well as making deep code-level changes.

All things considered, I think the community is getting a lot, plus it’s free and with broad based support. Other newer beta roms to which you may compare Miui are likely developed within much more controlled scenarios. It is my understanding that the context the porting developers are working in is unique.

Anyone with more understanding, please correct as necessary

For those using other kernels, I have found the (another ?) issue why some of them may not work with compcache by default. I missed a prop setting, but it will be fixed in 1.7.8. I know this will work with the deprimed kernel, and should work with others, because I will no longer be changing the handle_compcache script.

Just wanted to say that this port is working fantastic... I'v had minor gps issues but I think I have worked them out. Also for those of you that are having ram issues: unlock launcher from memory and run the v6 superchage script, it locks the launcher in memory automaticaly. The launcher is taking up double the memory it should without this. I have had best results using the balanced 3 option.

Btw is it just me or does viewing a lot of websites (especially full desktop ones with flash) always slow to a crawl and have force closes and even battery pulls needed sometimes?

Btw magiman, are you taking the sleep mode build.prop tweaks out and/or add in the sysctl memory tweak for better performance? And also adding the CM modified browser?

Also would restoring data for the music app tend to make it force close? I'm thinking its the easiest way to save playlists

Could u please go into details of how to unlock the launcher from memory an run the v6 script? I thought the v6 was built into the builds already? My phone doesn't really run bad, occasional slowness... no fc's but I like to experiment an see if I can make things run better if the options are out there

To unlock the launcher from memory, go to settings - personal - launcher settings and toggle off the option keep in memory. That's my guess man, but it should work

If you search the forums for v6 supercharge script it will tell you how to do it. You just run the script as root with script manager and choose option 0 or 1 first and then the balanced 3 option. You can try others. And see what one works best for you

Magi built some of it in the rom but I was having problems with the launcher... when you run the script it cleans any traces of what magi put in

sleep mode build.prop changes are going to be out (have pulled a John Kerry flip / flop the last two weeks, but I am going to pull them.

sysctrl memory tweaks? Do you mean the 4096 for min_free_kbytes ? I am not sure because I am making some slight adjustments to the memory tweaks of v6. Changing to somewhere between Multitasking and Balanced.

CM browser, I have been getting FC with it, not sure why. Looking into it, but it may not make it this week :(

I think I have restored data for MIUI Music and have not seen an issue, so I don't think so
