[ROM] MIUI.us-Sholes-1.9.9 [DEV]

I just checked on this thread and saw that there is some kind of issue with using RZR. I haven't been able to flash the past 2 or 3 builds and eventually just switched over to SS 5.5 with no issues, but I'm really missing MIUI. Should I switch to CWM to start flashing the new MIUI builds? When I was using RZR everything would boot up but then it would freeze at the lock screen and just keep restarting itself. Everything was wiped 5 times. I also had the "insufficient space" errors when updating and downloading new apps when I was running MIUI. Any solutions to help me get back on MIUI? I'm trying to make my D1 last until the Vigor or Prime are released! Thanks.

I'm using RZR and have not had any problems flashing MIUI, at least I don't think I have... I can't remember how many builds into the gingerbread builds that the Google account setup wizard stopped running after a new flash, but it wasn't until I tried updating to 1.8.5 that my market stopped working. Now, all of sudden with 1.9.9 the Google account wizard shows up after a new flash, and my market problems are gone... coincidence, I don't know but after a month with no updates or new apps, I don't care. I'm just happy to be on the latest MIUI...even if I am having connectivity issues... nothing the old flight mode ON/OFF doesn't fix.

If you're using rzr and having issues than yes, use cwr and see if that fixes it.

The case of the missing playlists. I have always had trouble with restoring the playlists with MIUI, I thought that my troubles were over once the MIUI music app was added to the backup app. For me when I perform a restore all of my playlists show up as they should (I only have 12), and then after a quick flash of the screen the contents of my playlists mostly dissapear. The songs are all still there, but I have to manually rebuild my playlists each Friday if I want the latest ROM that is. Tried to restore using Titanium and they dissapear the same as with the backup app.

Any ideas? Is this happening to anyone else?

Thanks,

Anthony

Just tried using ClockWork and had the exact same issue. It let's me use the phone for about 3-5 minutes and then, without warning, just does a "soft reboot" for lack of a better term. It just instantly flashes to the MIUI boot screen (no M screen) then goes to the lockscreen for roughly 10 seconds before starting all over again... Back to SS until I get my next phone I guess.

Are you restoring system data with TB or miui backup?

Or flashing one zip right after the other? That was said to cause bootloops

Have you tested multiple kernels at lower max speeds and higher voltages?
Just because a kernel runs great on a ROM doesn't mean it will on another, but that also goes for speed and voltages. Why? Probably the same reason every one of our phones seem to react in a unique way to just about everything. Nothing makes sense, which I think means it all makes perfect sense.
Just as everything's effect on our Droids is completely consistent even though it's always inconsistent, because it's consistently inconsistent.

Chewy and danceswithbongs, unfortunately I can't even make it far enough to try restoring and changing kernels before it starts wigging out. I really have no idea what the deal is... Thanks for the replies.

Can you manually get into recovery? Powering off. Holding x and powering up.

You could try flashing another kernel while in recovery.

Yeah, never had a problem getting into recovery at all. That's how I have been able to switch over to SS after MIUI doesn't work for me.

Ok. I see. What kernels have you tried? Anything mv? I've always found mv kernels worked best foe be with miui

Actually, yeah the MV kernels always work best for me as well. I was using that with MIUI a few builds ago when it was working and I'm currently using one on SS. Could flashing a new kernel right after installing MIUI make a difference? I never thought of that.

For sure. I usually flash the rom and then the kernel in succession. The stock kernel is ok but I like to use Chevy's or Prime's kernel. I like them for the ext4 support and performance.

Okay cool, I'll give it a try later on this morning. I guess I should still stick with ClockworkMod over RZR? I like RZR way more.
