I don't have any apks, no.
And I hope it doesn't appear like I'm trying to debate you on this, I'm just reporting what we experienced when Ang was putting different versions of Fission out w/varying levels of blur and flashable camera/gallery combinations - it did result in problems w/those elements not connecting/working properly.
The only gallery related actions I took w/1.7 was to use QuickPic and Fish Bowl Photo instead of the Blur gallery...both of those worked fine and are pretty cool to boot.
Did a google search and found an updated/modded version that works very well for me so far. [MOD/PATCH] Gallery3D higher res | UPDATE 12.2.2011. - no more black bars - xda-developers
Now I just need to figure out how to make this the default camera app(now when I open a picture from the file browser as I have done that, but from the camera app).

That's exactly one of the issues that would come up - the desired Gallery would not default from the current camera...hope you can work it out. Might check and see if you can clear data/defaults in the camera and gallery apps and see if you can then set them to what you want.
Thing was I never had that issue with Fission, but then again with Fission you could choose which one you wanted.
Yup - "stock" fission worked fine....as soon as you started substituting things, that's when the trouble began, as you've noticed.

Phone goes black when making a call...as if I have clicked the on/off button. Sliding out keyboard brings it back on... but I can't get screen to turn on after dialing a number... resulting in my voicemails being 2 minutes long or having to remove battery to end a call...
Anyone else?

Well, the screen is supposed to turn off when you make a cal. The phone uses the accelerometer and proximity sensor to sense when you have the phone up to your ear, but it should come back on when you bring the phone down from your ear. Have you tried moving the phone around into different positions after you're done with the call?
That sounds like my battery life, I go through 3 different batteries a day. But i'm almost constantly playing games(3 of my homescreens are full of games lol) and when i'm not playing games i'm using my phone for other things.
And when I only use my phone lightly I get great battery life, like everyone else. So like Micro says, it has nothing to do with ZombieStomped.
Edit: I should say that I can go through 3 batteries, I usually only get to the second one by the time I get home.
