It might work, but it might also take away some newer features from this release in the rom.

I believe I remember from the last release him mentioning something about him having a pretty slow internet connection. I'm sure the wait will be worth it though so don't worry.

Only problem I have ever had is with some blur. Did the blur items change much?

I have no idea what would be changed after applying the specific theme you mentioned, if anything. It depends on what files the theme .zip contains that alter system files in the rom.
