I'll never forget him posting words to the effect " i want the rooted 299 ICS NOW!" (Most of us were rocking 229 at the time, never figured out how 70 build #s slipped by us like that, or why he needed some "rooted rom" don't samsung tab people do that?)
I am just curious, what do you plan to do now that it is rooted? There are lots of good things you can do, but then there are lots of ways to bone your phone too. Just be careful.
What is your purpose for Titanium backup? There are a couple good options that don't require root for backup. Rooting is fairly safe and the stupid ICS rootcheck counter is faulty, so don't worry about that- not that I've heard of anyone having warranty issues because of that anyway.

Main purpose is to back everything up. It seems like doing and fdr now that i went from gb to ics and every so often is a good idea. Seems like having everything backed up would be a good idea.
Also in general i would just like to learn more about root and the world it opens up with roms and such.
I think i am getting my hands on a spare bionic which would make learning a little more relaxing (knowing if i brick one a spare is sittin in the drawer). Figured now is a good time since bionics are gettin cheap near the end of their support and the lessons learned could apply to future phones.
Both bionics would be out of warranty so i dont think the root counter matters to me at this point.

Altspeed's point is quite valid. Really shouldn't be a need to FDR every so often. Usually with an OS change it can be a good idea, or if you are experiencing functionality issues, but beyond that I would consider it a last resort. Usually a cache wipe now and then is helpful. Just do your homework. There are lots of ROMs out there and guides for most of the popular ones. The best advice is READ before you jump. Go through the entire guide AND comments before you even plug in the usb cable. Check people's sig's too for what rom's they are running- you'll get a feel what ones are decent by which ones you see the most.
