Rooting an old Kit Kat tablet still possible?

I have an old Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 running Kit Kat 4.4.2 that is like new. As Google no longer provides support for this device, I'd like to root it and upgrade to Lollipop or Marshmellow. Is this still possible? If so, can anyone recommend the best and easiest way to do so? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hey, I'm sorry I'm not familiar with any tablet rooting but I would probably take a peek at XDA for a little bit better information on updating to a ROM ..
