Rooting GB

The GB OTA update was installed this afternoon. This evening I downloaded Pete's Motorola Root Tools v1.03, unzipped, and ran it. It appeared to complete the process so I closed the program and unplugged the phone from the computer. Titanium Backup indicated the phone was not rooted so I ran Pete's again. It failed during "Running exploit step 3 of 3". The text stated "adb could not be granted root access via local.prop method. Try again from the start, but if the problem continues, check your version of Gingerbread -- hopefully you don't have a version where this exploit is fixed." Another attempt was made with the same results. Should I unroot (there's a warning in Pete's program about that), try to root again, wait for a revised version, do without, what? Thanks fellow DG2ers.

I had the same error, I unrooted the phone, then I was able to successfully root it.

I had that exact problem the first time with rooting using the one click method this morning but my phone decided to act retarded so I unplugged switched to charge only again and it successfully rooted the second time. Only took 5 min at the most

Then do it manually.

It's not like that one-click script is doing something otherworldly.

Everything it does can be done by hand, and was done by hand before people wrote the script.
