In case you missed the RUMOR in brackets above, we are going to reiterate that this is only rumor and there is nothing currently out there to confirms this. As an update to the story about Five Nexus handsets being available through Google's Playstore , there is new rumor circulating around the exact date. . According to the Android Guys a trusted TalkAndroid source is saying that "we'll be getting five Pure Android/Nexus devices come November 5th." Why November 5th you ask? Well it just so happens it’s Android’s 5th Birthday and what better way to celebrate 5 years than offer 5 pure Android handsets.
Captain Obvious tells us that if this is true, consumers will have their choice of hardware manufacturer, and Sam the Skeptic says what would be the point. With differences in hardware between the manufacturers becoming more of a blurred line, the manufacturer UI's are really what make the variety of handsets stand out from one another. So what exactly would be the point of having 5 devices that are essentially the same? One, it would be a great way for Google to get their OS to the masses through a variety of devices and/or carriers. Two, stock Android devices are very rare or perhaps they are not all handsets and some tablets will get thrown into the mix as well. That's a scenario that could definitely play out as well.
A lot of people would love to have their choice of hardware manufacture for the Nexus platform and just the thought of it is very exciting. As with all rumors we must take it with a wheel barrel full of Himalayan Salt.
Is this rumor nothing more than bunk or could there be something to it? Sound off in the comments.
