[Rumor] HTC Thunderbolt Delay May Only be Until March 3rd or 4th

I was interest in purchasing the XOOM so I went to Verizon today to check one out. While I was there I started asking about the Thunderbolt and when it will release. The rep was more than happy to look in their system for me but to no surprise still nothing in there. He did add that they (The reps in the store) expect it on Monday the 28th but no later than the 4th. He also mentioned a pre-sale date of the 6th. I don't know about you guys but he seemed to just talk in circles to me and was absolutely not aware of anything or he was just pulling my leg.

Nevertheless I will still buy the TB regardless of when it launches I just hope it is sooner rather than later.

Funny conversation with the guy at Best Buy tonight when I went to check out the Xoom...

He tells me the Thunderbolt is probably coming the 3rd or the 10th...he thought the 3rd was most likely...then said the 10th. Then he throws in this nugget...Bionic will be coming before the end of March. He said that Verizon wants to beat the Iphone 5...

Yeah take that for what it's worth...It was a Best Buy Mobile guy lol.

Yeah IDK, I'd say that The Bionic coming that early is pretty skeptic. BTW, why did said BB employee think that the iPhone 5 *wasn't* coming to Big Red?

Of course, VZW reps know slightly more than BB reps, which is, to say, nothing. But there was one rumor somewhere about VZW was going to make an LTE blitz releasing the 4 phones in short succession.

No idea....I think he meant Motorola wanting to get the phone out there before Apple...but he did say Verizon.

But the thing is; is that VZW controls the release of new devices, not the manufacturer themselves.

A BB employee has zero insight into the release of handsets on Verizon. I don't think the 5 will hit in June or July, think it will be February, but they are not just going to release the iPhone 4 and walk away.

I started talking to the store manager and a worker and they told me to wait a week or 2 at the most.. the TB is well worth the wait. I also told them that I wasn't really sold on 4G LTE yet since I didn't think we would be seeing it in my area for at least a year and to my surprise they said the towers would be lit up here possibly in May..June for sure. That was a little exciting for me. So needless to say I left the store without spending a dime...yet. Maybe next week will be it, who knows.. just hope it is soon. I want to retire my OG Droid. I will say this for the iPhone, the screen is amazing. And it would be nice if we had 32G of space to store all apps, maybe developers will start allowing more apps to go to SD.

I agree the iPhone's screen is amazing, and the storage as well. The iPhone is the main reason I want the TB, b/c I wanted the iPhone4 first but when comparing:

LTE>3G
40GB>16 or 32GB"
4.3">3.5" the res is nice but real estate is better
8mp>5mp
talk+surf on Verizon is also something I really want and WILL use.

The only killer here for me is the Battery of the TB, and for me this is huge, but Ill have to live with it until they seriously address the issue.

All I can say is this- all these delays are pissing me off, VZW! I'm about to jump ship and go with another carrier! Last I heard, Bionic was late June release. Not cool. That means at least July before we have any meaningful reviews (I'm talking real-world, not fan speculation). I'm not really excited about jumping carriers, but if they keep delaying releases, I will. There are too many great phones out there not too, and the carriers I am looking at are way cheaper anyway, and in the Houston market, they're all pretty decent.

The only killer here for me is the Battery of the TB, and for me this is huge, but Ill have to live with it until they seriously address the issue.

The battery is really no big deal. All you need to do is grab one of the extended batteries that I see are already available. I had a problem with my HTC Incredible, and buying the Seidio 3500 extended battery *solved* the problem. Not "improved things a lot" - SOLVED the problem. I plan on getting a Thunderbolt, as soon as it's released, and one of my first purchases after that will be an extended battery. I *saw* the difference it made on my Incredible, and want the same for my T-Bolt.

At first, I had this little bubble of about two weeks between when I get my upgrade and when the Thunderbolt would come out. (Everyone thought it would come out on 2/24, and my upgrade is March 10th) Now I'm worried the phone wont even be out by the 10th, which would suck because then I'd have to wait even longer. But I feel bad for the people who've been waiting since last year.

I think verizon needs to be more open with us. If the phone cant come out yet, great. At least tell us why and when it most likely will be delayed to.

Also, what were they thinking letting us preorder from bestbuy a month ago. If they dont have the phone out a month after it is avalible for preorder, theyre idiots.

Well if the tip we just got is correct, it looks like those of you waiting on 4G LTE front facing camera new Sense UI goodness shouldnt have to wait much longer. We just got word that Verizon plans on receiving shipments of the TBolt as early as next week, and sales could start within days after stock is moved into stores. So who out there plans on being a day 1 TBolt owner?
