[RECOVERY] Safestrap Recovery v3.7x [05/15/2014 V3.73 - TWRP 2.7]

Dependencies are root and busybox AFAIK.

I'll see if someone else can't help you out here.

Should busybox have been installed as part of the rooting process? Ive never seen it before on my phone until it was suggested that i get it. I have been able to install other apps that require root without busy box, and i havent seen it mentioned that it must be downloaded to install safestrap.

I have the drivers installed already. I just rerooted using motofail and tried installing SS again, no luck. I unrooted using the droid4utility and then rerooted. Still no luck.

I downloaded SS via computer and copied it to the internal and external cards. Tried to install, didnt work. I used astro to navigate to each file and clicked install but nothing either.

There is no error when I try to install, its just that when i press the install button nothing happens. The Cancel button works.

After watching the ICS thread for weeks I've decided to take the plunge and my inability to do a simple install is terribly frustrating and i hope its not a sign that i shouldnt try ICS.

No because when i press Install nothing happens so i dont even reach the stage where superuser asks for permission.

I just installed CM9 on my D2 and I cant even get SS installed?!?

@orangechoochoo ... I know you have probably done a lot of this, but give it a shot.

First, make sure that you do not have another Bootstrap APK installed.

Download safestrap for the D4 from here (preferably on wifi or to the pc transferred to the phone)

Double check to make sure you have apps from unknown sources checked

Double check that SU and busybox are up to date

Find the file (something other than Astro, if possible, such as Root Explorer)

Tap the file and see if it will install.

I did everything you suggested. I have no other bootloader. I unrooted using the droid4 utility because the superuser app installed with that utility would not tell me if I'm up to date on the binary, it would just say it's checking and that's it. I then rooted with motofail and it gave me the green supersuer app that says the binary is updated but I just press "that was fun, do it again". Version 3.0.3.2.

I then downloaded busybox installer from jrummy and installed busybox 1.19.4. Before doing this i used es explorer and saw busybox already in system/bin. I installed busybox anyways. I also installed it in system/xbin.

Rebooted, found the file via es explorer, clicked install, nothing. I unchecked install from unknown sources and tried the install. It prompted me to check my settings so i checked unknown sources, it gave the warning, and i clicked install and still nothing. When i tap the button it doesn't "glow" for that split second but the cancel button glows when i press it and cancels as it's supposed to.
