Samsung Plans to Sue Apple if They Release an LTE iPhone

Or, they get enraged, and go "thermal nuclear" on Samsung.

Either way what will Apple ban? The Galaxy S III? The GS3 has been out for MONTHS. The anticipation for it is gone. Nothing like what would happen with the iPhone 5.

They still wont have their precious iPhone5.
Actually, in terms of investors and their investments into Apple? They might be the ones to convince Apple to drop this nonsense.
It would be more lucrative for them to work together.

Indeed it does.

Nothing would make me happier than for Sammy to drive a stake right through the heart of Apple ( The Iphone). But is it something that Apple could circumvent by disabling the LTE radio via patch, or is the mere presence of a LTE antenna an offensive violation?

I would guess antenna design. Plus, disabling LTE would be fairly drastic wouldn't it? Since I'm sure LTE will be one of the major selling point of the new iPhone.

They might still ship it with LTE, in case they win the case against Samsung, that way, all they have to do is enable it.
Its possible.
10% Samsung owned LTE is afterall, 10%.
There is still no telling what Apple is doing about their LTE Iphone.
Time will tell on that one but nevertheless it will be interesting to see Samsung snap at Apple when the iphones start to ship.
Lol it would be funny, the boat or plane that delivers the iPhone 5 is rejected at customs with a big red stamp denying them US entry.

Apple tells VZW and AT&T what to do, but would they tell Sammie Mobile what to do?

Potentially interesting dynamic, because while most android users have few issues choosing from several high-end android devices, there's no alternative for many people wanting an iphone.

Yes that is true. But Apple would not want their new phone to be infringing on any Sammy's patents. Especially ones that could give Sammy a billion dollar judgement in their favor, would they? But the real question would be risk vs reward. Cost of lawsuit vs. nobody in their right mind buying a 3g Iphone 5!

Can you imagine the advertising for it then? "iPhone 5... LTE Enabled* *LTE to be enabled with future firmware update. Time for firmware update is unknown."

During the ban, i would goto iPhone 5 users and ask?
"How you guys liking LTE? Its great, isnt it?
ohh yeah...thas right."

Exactly! There is zero chance that it ships without it though. With LTE the dominant 4g standard they have no choice. Nobody will buy another 3g iphone unless they literally run around all day saying bahhh bahhhhh.

Wasn't the majority of iPhone 4 users that thought they had a 4G device?

Especially after the phantom 4G update. They thought Apple was so awesome they could put in an LTE radio via a software update. I had to convince quite a few otherwise.

YEP!

This image is the sole property of Apple iSheep Inc, any from of distribution for selling purposes could result in a lawsuit in the court of law. Trust us. Ask Samsung.

Every time I think of Samsung even possibly delaying or banning the iphone 5, I think of this scene, specifically at the 40 second mark.
