Saving playlists to SD card?

So...stupid me. Let my 6 year old play with my DX thinking there was nothing she could do to hurt it as it was locked. Suddenly I hear some tones that I've not heard since I first initialized it so I grabbed it and was looking at the Welcome to Droid! screen.

Yes, she found the key combination or input the wrong password enough times and wiped my phone. /sigh....

My own dumb fault and thankfully no files were lost. A few hours later I got most of my apps reinstalled and accounts configured again but lost my music playlists, which took hours to create.

Anyone have a good way to create music playlists or a preferred app that lets you save the playlists? Or do you sync you PL with Windows Media Player?

Thanks for any help.

Well i havent seen or heard of any apps that can save playlists from wmp. But if you have itunes there are plenty of apps that can help you transfer playlists from iTunes. I reccommend iSyncr, theres a lite version but only imports 20 songs max per playlist you van try that and see if it works for you but the paid version is definitely well worth it. I tried others that didnt work as well and were free but i dont remember the names to them anymore.

I've found creating playlist to be one of the most frustrating activites I've ever done, until I developed the following:

1. On your PC, download and install the free download "CopyFilenames" (www.extrabit.com/copyfilenames)
2. Select the mp3 files you want in your playlist.
3. Right click and select" Copy Filenames"
4. Paste into your favorite editor.
5. Arrange them in the order you want.
6. Add ".\" at the beginning of each line.
7. Finally save the text file with a ".m3u" extension.

Make sure this playlist file is in the same directory as your mp3 files and you are good to go. (Or specify a path from the m3u file to the mp3 files in step 6.)

Thanks all for the replies. If I can't figure something else out that's easier I'll give that a shot Warhawg.

Still looking for a player or app that lets you backup and restore the playlist. Mostly as I use the stock music app and car dock for the bigger buttons (wish MixZing had a "car" mode for that reason).

Here's what I do to create playlists pretty easily.
  1. Connect droid to computer as a removable drive
  2. Open music folder on droid
  3. Open Windows Media Player
  4. Drag songs from droid to "list" window in WMP
  5. Click on "Save list" icon at top
  6. Go to My Music\Playlists on computer
  7. Drag newly created playlist to droid music folder
  8. Playlist will show up in stock music player.
Hope this works for you, pretty easy, fast and free.

Thanks!

Thank you Droiyd, I think that is going to work. At least then my playlist is on my PC so I can update later.

^ Thats probably the best way to do it. Aside from using iSyncr.
