Scanning for Wi-Fi every 5 Seconds

Mine does this also. I see it is continually scanning and showing different available wife connections even though I have a good connection to my home router.

RossD, sorry you're having this problem, but I'm glad that I'm not going crazy, that there are other out there having the same problem.

I also have a Samsung Galaxy 8.0 and it does the samething as my SG3, it scans for a WiFi signal every 5 seconds even when it connected to a router. Could it be an android problem?

I'm not sure if this is related, but my WiFi notification will come up even when I've turned WiFi off. I can't say it's happened since we got the update though.

I believe scanning only takes place if your on the wifi settings screen, all ICS+ devices continue scanning while looking at the access point settings screen...even if connected to an AP.

If your being notified about AP's while connected to an AP the issue is something other than the device scanning every 5 seconds.

My phone also scans for wifi networks. I'm pretty sure this is normal. It shouldn't affect your battery drain at all though.

I also have the same problem, my phone scans for wifi constantly. I have the wifi on constantly but now, after this problem appeared, it takes some seconds to log on to apps that are located on my initial lock screen.

It seems that wifi is enabled/ disabled constantly
