I mean i've seen Atleast 30 different ones and we have 4 demos on display and only one has that issue but have a few exchanged cause they had this flaw.

That's the flaw with the pen tile matrix screen, the phone its great as long as your not in direct light.

Working on getting confirmation on this one. I noticed the grid friday afternoon outside and the screen was off. I've been thinking it was just how the qHD screen is with the anti-reflective layers and such.

I should have answers soon.

That's was the talk on a lot of forms before the phone read released, I love the phone and that would be a small thing for me, I saw it watching a movie in sunlight, that was the only time I saw it.

I said the screen is ON in the picture I took. You can see the grid with anything that has a dark background I just couldn't take a pic and it be seen with all the glare

When I had a Droid 3 for a couple weeks I noticed the "grid" when the screen is black as well. I assume it's just part of the way the pentile matrix works. Didn't bother me one bit (I typically don't look at my phone when there's nothing on the screen anyway =) ), but to each his own.

Just looked at a few more and using one right now and this one does not have the issue as the others i have seen. Must be defective screens as i just looked at 6 different ones and only 1 had this issue. Ive exchanged 2 today for this problem. Maybe a bad batch at our store

just went outside again to check it out on my Bionic...
I can see the grid when the screen is OFF.
however, when the phone is on it's not visible at all.
looked at a full white webpage - no grid
looked at a full black webpage - no grid
looked at a purple webpage - no grid.

I honestly think what I'm seeing when the screen is off is part of the anti-reflective layer but I'll call Moto again tomorrow and ask them to confirm

that's not the "pentile" that's a defect, I believe.
