SD Cards don't last!

My 16 gig sandisk sd card some how got corrupted. It's about 15 months old and is used daily for my music listening and stuff. Any ways. The battery was getting low and the music was still playing when I powered the phone down to put in my spare battery. Once I powered it back up it said card was damaged. I did manage to reformat with the droid needless to say it wiped my data. But that's. My two cents for this thread. (Smiles)

Mine aren't even recoverable. I try to reformat them and they won't.

I don’t know your skill level with computers so please pardon me. Are you using a windows computer? I thought I toasted an 8 gig card because windows would not let me format it. I deleted the partitons on the card and then it let me format. I know there's also software out there that will maybe reformat the card. Did you ever find out if the cards were physically fried?

I've never had a MicroSD card go bad on me, in all the years I've used them. I've always used SanDisk and always been satisfied. I even have a 1GB I got when the Micro format was really starting to come down in price, still works fine, and I use it in a standard SD card adapter every once in awhile.

I've had regular SD cards die on me before, mostly due to heavy use in less than ideal conditions (swapping cards in my SLR's, if I'm somewhere tricky, I always seem to drop them). Granted, I've bought a few cheap no-name cards before. So I got what I paid for.

I can testify that it is important to disconnect the card reader/adapter from the computer before pulling it out. I have also revived a card that had some funk buildup on the contacts using a pencil eraser.

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but I recently began seeing some 32gb cards show up on Ebay, Buy-it-now priced at $25 or so, all shipping from our Communist Chinese pals. Most are SanDisk branded but I'm betting they are bogus, so just a warning that like always, you get what you pay for.

Cheers-

pretty sure my SD card failed due to the Indianapolis Airport this morning. I've had it for 12 months with no issues at all, and all of a sudden once i get off the plane and power up my Droid, i have a corrupted SD card. Can't even format it. Dammit.
