Seems like the bionic was set to fail.

I agree completely. All phones have bugs and issues with them one way or another. Most of these issues usually get resolved. I personally have a Bionic as well and I don't regret buying it at all. Sure there may be a phone that's better within a few months but that's how it will always be. You wait for a certain phone and you'll hear about something better coming out and you'll wait for that. Rinse and repeat.

And people, especially those new to smart phones are just learning how to use them and may call something they don't understand or have not figured out yet how to work, a bug. I still haven't tried/figured out every option yet.

This thread seems to be nothing more than asking for trouble. Every single phone that comes out has issues, and if you read all the threads its either user error or a minor bug that a firmware update will most likely fix. All's I do is seeing this thread doing is putting down people who have purchased the bionic and are extremely happy with it. I for one, am one of them. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I also practice the old saying, if you don't have something good to say don't say anything at all. We'll see how this ends up...

Well im sorry that it comes across that way. I started the thread after reading a lot of threads from people who aren't happy with the phone. Im glad you're happy with your phone. The thread wasn't started to pit anyone down but to point out how it looks like the bionic seems to be more heavily scrutinized than other phones due to the delayed release. I apologize for coming across wrong.

No need to apologize, the point I was trying to get across is that most of the time, when anyone gets a new phone, especially a highly anticipated device with features that were never before offered, there is going to be a learning curve, so one would expect to see more posts about people having problems simply because they haven't figured out how to use it yet. Hell, (Yes I still have one) I still can't get my VCR's clock to stop flashing 12:00 ... :)

My main concern with the title of this thread is peoples feelings, it's like say you just went out and bought something knew, and were very happy with it, then comes a long someone who says, "Oh man that's the ugliest thing I ever saw" or putting it down in some way .. just no reason to put something down if other people are very happy with it.

I agree. I wasn't putting the phone down as I personally haven't laid hands on it. Whenever something comes out that is as highly anticipated as this phone, it seems people are extra hard on it. That was the meaning behind the title.

It's all good :) Except Steeler logo's are forbidden on this forum :P

I'm glad I waited and didn't jump on the Tbolt, or the Charge. The Droid Bionic is probably one of the best at the moment but no phone is perfect! If you wait for the best you're never going to get it. There's always a better phone model. I'll probably get it in the next couple days. (when Costco actually has them in stock for more than 20min) ;-) Costco has a 30 day return policy as far as I know, so I can return it and get a Vigor or Prime when it comes.
Sure, why can't they put all the good features in every phone. Like the Atrix with the fingerprint reader... where did that come from? 0.o =P I really don't know why people are so upset with the Bionic... It truly is a great phone. And yes, if the iPhone 5 gets good specs I'll respect it too, although i'd probably never get one! ;-)
Contentment people contentment! =) Don't hate just because you chose to upgrade before the bionic! =P

The bionic was late to the party. Next generation phones will have HD displays, not the quarter hd, and much faster processors. What makes things worse for the bionic owners is, they can't overclock to hold them over till the NE2. The droid incredible HD will be available on Oct 13, this must be a record for fastest KO.

I was seriously considering the Bionic earlier this week, but like I said in my other thread there's been some cons against it, and with the Vigor coming out soon I'm thinking about holding out for it. I'm a n00b when it comes to Android, so I don't know if its necessary to wait for the Vigor if the Bionic is actually a pretty good phone.

+1^ I find the Bionic to be a fantastic device. This is my third Moto brilliant phone starting with the OG Droid that some people found bugs with. Moved to the Droid X, another sweet device that some had issues with. Now the Bionic. Since I'm not a big gamer nor am I in need of the best camera, with 4G speed and clear phone reception this is one baaddddd mobie-scobie.

Will any device produce perfect nirvana out of the box??? May go seriously gray waiting. In the meantime, I'll continue to rock the Bionic and see if there's something that suits my fancy in about 18 months. Enjoy your droid of choice.

Yup I'm a big HTC fan and I'm glad I got my thunderbolt when I did...and people were reporting problems I didn't have none at all but the people that did got updates to fix it and I'm sure MOTO will do the same they are also great when it comes to support. But I do think if u waited a whole year for a phone is a really dumb move..

I have the DX. That was my first Android phone, and I got in in October, so a few months after launch. Even with a few hiccups (e.g. random reboots on froyo), it's been an amazing phone. I won't say it's as snappy as it was on day one, but as things have lagged, I've been able to do a complete wipe and try a new ROM. I found a ROM that minimized the reboots and fixed other minor "issues". Now I'm on MIUI, and it's cool to have new things to play with, even if that ROM isn't perfect due to some DX limitations. 11 months later and I'm not close to bored. If VZW called me tomorrow and said I could upgrade early, I'd pass. As long as the development is rolling along, I'm quite content.

So I guess what I'm getting at, I'm not expecting a perfect phone. When you're on the "relative" cutting edge of technology, bugs will need to be worked out. It's the people complaining who are too afraid to "fix" things themselves, or who feel they are "entitled" to the perfect experience. Get an iPhone then. Name one technological product that has ever been flawless for everyone. When we were reading reviews prior to purchasing a tv, 85% loved it, the rest had problems. Same thing with our computer. Even our fancy coffee maker... people were complaining it wasn't getting the water "hot enough", which is obviously a very personal opinion.

I don't know. Folks are never going to be completely happy.

Seems like in the latest threads section about half of the posts are regarding the bionic and about half of those threads are expressing displeasure. The funny thing is everyone keeps saying... "especially after we had to wait so long." You didn't HAVE TO wait for anything. You wanted the phone and you chose to wait. I realize we all love our phones and that's why were here but it sounds like some of you seem to think Motorola owes you something because you chose to wait. No matter how good an r&d team is they can't possibly text every possible aspect of every phone and make it meet everyones standards... otherwise there would be a whole lot of perfect phones on the market. There is a reason there are software updates and patches.

Good post I couldn't have said it better, I waited and motorola didn't disappoint.

I'm not sure what you are talking about. There are some bugs that people are discovering and announcing. I think it is the baddest little mofo machine out personally. But it's all opinion. As long as your happy it's all good.

Agreed. No phone is perfect but this thing is fast and I have noticeably better better life than on my tbolt which I also enjoyed.
