Seidio Innotraveler car dock

I had the same problem and just got the replacement unit. I'll use it some this weekend and see if the charger actually charges. It is frustrating when the phone shows it is being charged but then shuts down with a dead battery.

OK, well at least its not just me.... It still sucks though!
I used the replacement car dock Saturday on two one hour trips. It seemed to work fine and kept the battery charged. I'm still curious about how it will do during a 5-6 hour trip. The replacement desk charger is better than the first one but I still have to adjust the charger prong on the dock to seat the phone properly. With the Motorola dock it was a one hand/no thought process but the Innocase means no more fit. With the Seidio desk charger it takes concentration and care to get the charger plug to line up with the socket. I'm afraid it is going to screw up my phone and I may just send both desk chargers back, which is a bummer.

Yeah, I had a similar concern with the force it takes to press it into the travel dock. Is you battery level increasing on those trips, or just holding level? It should increase even if you're using prgrams.

I have not used the second one enough to be able to say for sure. I hope I could put a nearly discharged phone in the car dock drive and navigate for 2-3 hours and finish with a fully charged phone. We'll see I guess. The first one would let a fully charged phone completely discharge in about five hours.

Car Dock Replacement Still Not Working!

I finally got to use the second car dock on a seven hour drive. I should say what should have been a seven hour drive because the phone was completely dead and shut down after six hours. From 100 percent charged to no charge after six hours in the car dock, plugged in with charger cord and dock both showing power. The charging icon on the Droid showed it should have been charging too. After this happened I removed the Droid from the dock and plugged it in with my original Motorola charger, the Droid powered up and in about fifteen minutes the battery was 10 percent charged. I wonder if the problem is the charger cord Seidio sent with the the first car dock??? They did not send a replacement for that. At this point the car dock is useless!

I also noticed it being difficult to seat tightly enough to get the phone to make a connection with the micro USB. It seems to have gotten easier with a few days use, but I still have to press firmly.

I have a more pressing concern at the moment though. I used te seidio dock with the standard battery and while it was definetely getting a connection to the dock (charge indicator showed on the power display, showed conneted to AC, backlight stayed on), it was not actually recharging the phone. At least not much. I would leave a client and have an hour drive. I would leave with 70% and arrive at my destination with 40%. I would run GPS or music, but USB transerfers more then enough power to supply your usage and recharge the battery at the same time. I haven't tried it with the entended battery (which is the whole reason I got the dock) since I had to have my first one replaced and my new extended is still going through the full charge/discharge sequence they recommend.

So, has anyone else noticed it making a connection and not charging the phone sufficently?

Also, the Droid was HOT when I took it out of the dock. I think that case ought to allow a little air circulation.

I got mine last week and am having the same problem. Not much point in a car dock that won't keep the phone charged and running while navigating. It is solid and looks good. I just wish it worked better. I've emailed Seidio customer support but have not heard back yet. Will post again when this is resolved one way or the other...

I just got off the phone with Seidio customer service. They are sending a replacement unit. I'll post again when it comes and I see if the new one works better than the old one.

If it is like mine, the USB plug in the dock that connects to the phone recessed further into the dock and no longer makes contact with the phone.

I guess you would use that to run someother device though it does not seem to get enough power to keep the phone charged by itself...

im looking to buy a car dock as well, sedio seems the best choice cuz i use their sedio case. but my issue is i use my droid for music in my car, and i plug it in via the audio jack on the top of the droid, is it accessible in the sedio car dock?

What do u use those USB ports on the right for?

Hello,

The "other" USB port is for you to charge another USB-powered device such as a bluetooth headset, FM transmitter, or even another phone! You can find the correct miniUSB to USB cable here:

Mini-USB (Male) to USB (Female) Charging Adapter

Yes! The 3.5mm headset jack is fully accessible while the Droid is in the dock! :)

That blows, hard. I haven't received my replacement yet and hope they sent both parts of the kit. It doesn't make send to assume the issue is with the dock portion and not the cable.

My dock is currently useless as well and I hope I can report better results when I get mine. You should call them back right away and have them send you a charger cord to see if thats the issue.

Thank you seidioseidio! Can u tell me if the product has any problems mounting the phone I to it with the usb? People say its hard to install. Also does it damage the phone with long term usage? Last, does it actually charge the phone even if I'm using the navigation or browsing the web?

Using our Car Kit properly will not cause any damages to your Droid and you will be able to charge your Droid while it is using navigation and web browsing! Can you explain a bit more what you mean by the first part of your questions?

Innotraveler dock power problems

I do not share the issues from other readers on the ergonomics if this unit - seems very well built and rock solid on the windshield. However I have experienced power issues similar to others. First was the cradle's USB plug was pushed too far into the cradle, so no connection could physically be made. Seidio service worked very well and replaced with one that looked fine. However, though the green light is on, no charging is taking place (no charging icon at the top, and the phone completely discharges after about 3hrs w/GPS on). It seems like there may be insufficient power to activate the phone's charging circuit so I am assuming a defective design. I'll wait a bit further before returning this unit to see if Seidio acknowledges this fault and offers an explanation and a fix rather than a simple replacement. Note the desk cradle works great with the Seidio case, but in the car I still need to use the Verizon charger without a cradle.

This charging issue (or lack of) really is leaving me with a bad taste in my mouth. One of the chargers that came with my desktop unit has already failed. The car dock doesnt even charge the phone anymore, so how could i trust it to ALSO charge a bluetooth headset?

Time to look for an alternative i think since its such a prevalent issue.

My thoughts exactly. The car dock is rock solid, easy to install, and good looking. The phone fits perfectly and automatically goes into navigation mode. My replacement unit is just like the first, with all those strengths. Too bad, just like the first, it won't keep the phone charged...
