[SELFKANG ICS AOSP ROM] CM9/ICS for Droid 3 -- [NIGHTLIES]

I contacted Motorola on the ICS update for Droid 3 and was sadly dissapointed when the tech told me there may not be an ICS for Droid 3 because of only 512 mb ram and ICS would be very hard to cram on that small of ram without problems :(

obviously that's BS if we"re using it now without issue.

I know its total BS. Its working now because its not a full system its just a rom and that makes a difference it doesn't have the kernal and radio and a few other things a full system has. They have to figure out how to drop it down a few notches to fit it on a 512mb ram I'm not a developer yet but working on it at the moment but I do know its true when I said its a rom and not a full system that really makes a difference :)

Your very welcome! The developer are so busy getting those bugs worked out so I was just trying to give them a break. I've been studying software developing and computer science since November 2011 and It helps. I asked Hashcode if a PC repair tech and builder could do the developing thing and he told me to give it a try so I took him up on it. Its no peace of cake let me tell ya :)

Hey Ace, I've been rooting and romming since the D1. I've done some building computers and tweaking windows since XP too. I've really been getting into the Android stuff, and I wasalso thinking that I would like to learn about developing. Are you studying at an institution? Or, are you learning on your own? If you are studying on your own, would you mind passing on some ideas of where some of us who would like to do the same could get started?

I'm teaching myself like I did with computers 12 years ago just google a question and it will answer I googled beginners guide to android development and got step by step guides and videos but it would only help you if you know Linux. Android and Linux are close to the same with codeing and framework but you can always google your question and get an answer its helping me a lot and helping me figure out some new stuff with Linux OS Good luck :)

Not to bust everyone's bubble, but here is something Hash said on his twitter feed not too long ago:

Realization: I doubt @Motorola will jump through the hoops to get #ICS on #Droid3 being a 512MB device.

So what that doesn't say is that its impossible. What it does say is that its a hard fit. And it suggests we may always have a less-than-standard ICS on this phone.

On the 3/18 nightly and had the following problems over the last week:

- Received a phone call from the wife and could not hear her, nor was she able to hear me (confirmed by having someone near me call me). I tried calling her back, rebooting, battery pull. Still had the issue. I moved back to the stock ROM and had a successful call. I wiped the cache and moved back to 3/18 and haven't had that problem since, but the phone did reboot itself during a call (WiFi-tether was running at the time).

- Navigation wouldn't work without recycling the GPS.

This is just noted for reference. I was on a business trip and didn't want to load the latest nightly before I left because of the problems they'd had with the nightlies just before I left. These problems may, or may not exist on the latest nightly.
