should i get moto or eris?

thanks guys, great help. i'm probably going to get the moto droid then, i was mostly positive i wanted it anyway.

the only thing now is if i should sell my itouch or not. just worried about sound quality (i guess ill try out the droid when i get it and go from there)

I kept my Touch for listening to Audible books, as there is no support on the Droid yet, and because when I am working in the barn, I want to keep my Droid in its holster, and the headphone jack isn't accessible. If/when I get a holster designed more specifically for the Droid, I might change.

I notice little, if any, difference in sound quality.

Droid has a bigger battery, efficient processor and an AMOLED screen. All things that definitely don't hurt battery life.

The droid doesn't have a AMOLED screen. It is a LCD screen.

I was just going to comment about that... I'm almost positive it isn't AMOLED and agree with TU. Beautiful, yes. AMOLED, I don't think it is. Regardless, I can't imagine someone who wouldn't be happy with this phone after a week of playing with it!

• Sprint’s service plans can be less expensive than equivalent options at Verizon Wireless, but Sprint customers may still wonder whether Verizon Wireless’ Motorola DROID is better than Sprint’s Samsung’s Moment. It is. AMOLED screens are brighter and more colorful than TFT, but the DROID’s larger, sharper TFT display trumps the Moment’s beautiful AMOLED screen. A staggered key layout is better for typing, but the DROID’s thin profile and higher-quality materials are more important than the staggered button layout on the Moment’s QWERTY.

Yeah despite not being AMOLED, the droid's screen is incredible. The high resolution really does it justice, and when the brightness is up all the way. Wow. I'm actually surprised AMOLED screens aren't being implicated into touch screen phones more often especially when they can offer better battery life. I'm guessing its because LED screens cost more. But anyone that looks at the droids screen, knows it looks great. Is there any other phone out now that has a higher resolution then the droid?

To help you decide about which of the two you should get, here is my advice to you, get the DROID. Now that I've had the DROID for almost a month, I'm glad I chose the DROID over the Eris...The Eris does look nicer with rounded corners, and more like how a phone should look like, but the DROID feel's more like a super mini pc with the capability of making phone calls...it feels tough, feels rugged, feels different than any phone I owned.
