Should I upgrade now and Keep the NE2???

So this would indicate that if you are eligible for an upgrade, you should use it before the 16th so that you get one more in 2 years. Is that correct?

IF you want a current phone and are not holding out for one of the new models.

(from Beka's DX)

So the two options are

1: Upgrade before the 16th and use my NE2. then upgrade in 2 years and use my NE2 again

2: Hold out for a phone after the 16th and use my NE2 once

It seems like from a financial standpoint (not factoring in phones) its better to use the NE2 before the 16th to get another one, if I am understanding correctly.

From a legal standpoint, this seems much more likely. So if you get on contract before the 16th, you have one more use of it.

"The New Every Program will officially end on January 16th. After that date, the New Every Two program will no longer be offered to new customers. Existing customers that are still on-contract will be allowed to use one more New Every Two upgrade, but will not be re-enrolled in the program after their next handset upgrade."

Ok. I've heard about every different scenario... Lol. Some reps are saying one thing, some are saying something else. I guess we'll see what happens...

Guys here's how it works....

Any contact written after 1/16/2011 will not have Ne2 or annual upgrade ability. Period...

If you write a new contract by 1/15 you will have ne2 and annual upgrade if it's line#1.

In my case I am upgrading line 1 on the annual upgrade, so I get the ne2 and annual upgrade next jan

Don't want to waste an upgrade now for a phone that I really do not want that will be replaced by one I do want in less than 6 months. Guess even though I am eligible now my decision to just buy a used D1 still makes most sense for me. Otherwise I would have to wait 20 months to get a phone I really want. Either way really only going to get one more upgrade from Verizon. Plus the line I am eligible on is line #2 not 1 anyway, oh well...

That sucks..... My wife really hated the D1 (hates the bulk and keyboard).. it works out great for me because i get to upgrade in september and then next january, and my wife stays happy and now i get two droids to bring with me to work!!! one running 3.0 for games and apps and such, and then my phone/phone running 2.2 tethering 3G to the other:)

Maybe im wrong on this but....isnt it easier to just get a one year contract and pay a little bit more??

for me in this situation not really.. especially when i really get 2 early 'subsidized' prices out of it. Combined with a discount from my employer ive got it worked out to paying like $50 for two more upgrades and a backup D1 to use incase anything breaks and im not elgible for upgrade at that time.

plus i get a extra NE2 out of it. so thats like 50-100 off a device next september. so it pays for itself

I just bought a used Droid X off Ebay for $285 so I didnt have to use my NE2....wanna save it for the Bionic in April....I figure I can probably still get $200 for the Droid X when I resell it. Just couldn't wait until April stuck with this Storm 1....had enough...hope I did the right thing...I think I got a good price for the X....seemed to be going in other auctions for $350-400....
I also have to add a line to my family plan for Mother in law....she has a pay as you go I will keep replenishing for a few more months.....I can use that line to upgrade my wife's DINC to a Thunderbolt and just buy MIL a $50 ENV2 off ebay...thats all she wants....
Anyone opinions on that strategy?

when you buy a new smartphone you need to activate a smartphone on it and leave the smartphone plan on

Good point I didn't think of that....well that was an extra anyway to tell the truth....Main thing is my Droid X will be coming monday or tuesday and i cant wait! I figure even if i sell my X for $150 in April i'm only paying $130 for at least 4-5 months of joy of having an awesome phone....just couldnt hold onto that Strom another 4-5 months without losing my mind

now what you can do is do your plan and buy a old D1 off ebay or something for dirt cheap at that time and give it to her, if she can figure out how to use it lol

If I buy a secondhand droid one though I'd have to pay $30 a month for the data package right...she can't even text lol......I'm getting her the cheapest phone I can...just sux that I have to use a new line and not get a good phone out of it...that's why I figured I'd get a thunderbolt for the wife to replace her incredible but like u said if I add the line buy getting a smartphone ill ha e to pay for a data package...or will they let me put that phone on my wifes number and activate a basic phone on the new number.....I doubt it.....
