Show us your ride!

Always thought you were a boy, Redbert. lol :D

Anywhere that is AWD territory a FWD can handle, too, IMO.
In fact, our second convertible WAS our Winter car. 1999 Saab 9-3 Convertible with Blizzack snow tires on it. Pffttt. That thing out handled ANY AWD vehicle (without snows). We called it our snowmobile. :D
Easily the best handling car I've experienced in winter yet.

Having said that, the Mazda I just bought is my first AWD. I was interested in trying that for once.

And you mistook what I said: HARDTOP Convertibles are going bye bye. Ragtops are still as popular as they've ever been.

I love my rear wheel drive V8's and V6 twin turbo here in Cleveland. Barely ever put the Tahoe in 4WD, my wife on the other hand, always in 4WD when the weather requires.

Good snow tires are the key to rear wheel drive in the snow. In the full size Transit I even have to turn off the traction control since it's too aggressive for me. Snow tires + Limited slip for the win.

Our local paper's motoring section said convertibles of all types are phasing out..I didn't do any follow up research so it could be wrong. I am a tomboy, so I'm sure that most people wonder about that too.. My husband had a Saab and that was his best winter car too. And I had to get Blizzaks on my Explorer because it came with 20" Hankook Tires and I disputed with the dealer how those would be at all useful. He surely thought I was a person who didn't know what I was talking about in June'14 when I bought the truck. 6 months later, I almost killed myself in a spin-out during a winter when it snowed twice a week, and last winter I got my Blizzaks. Though they don't come in 20", I got the tire dealer to put them on fresh 18" rims and I'm able to do what I love... Get up early in the first blizzard and go to an empty place and do wheelies... That's how my Dad taught me to be unafraid of snow so many years ago. I retired this past September, but for 15 years before that I would get up 4 am to make a path in the yard for my dogs, be at work by 6 am and still have time for breakfast and a leisurely half hour newspaper before work. So, nothing was plowed before I went out. I first got Blizzaks because a friend who was a mailman recommended them.."neither rain nor snow nor wind nor hail...." And I've never been late to work.

Been quite awhile since I had a convertible, rag top with the hard top option. Few years back was looking for a new one. The mid life, my [emoji767]=`¢ is bigger than your thing. Oh, the horror stories on the forums. Decided I couldn't afford to fix a broken top. And the Jaguar leaks brake fluid down the inside of the front windshield, if the forums are correct. MB will replace all 8 sensors and servos if the top malfunctions. The Vette is just ugly with the top up. Did buy a convertible, kinda, no top, 360 degree views, air in the winter, heat in the summer. And it lane splits to beat traffic. 0-60 times blow, 0-100 times are respectable. 1/4 mile times, meh, but it'll do it on one wheel.

Now it's back to buying my last truck. 50k, ugh.

Rumour had it that Fiat Chrysler was bringing back a convertible for the 200, however I also heard the 200 was being dropped which just means that opens the door for a Fiat rebranded and sold here.

Personally, if the rumour of a Barracuda convertible comes to fruition, I would definitely be interested in that (if it has a HEMI of course)!

Apparently convertible sales, in general, are down 40%.

Mazda (Miata), Ford (Mustang) and VW (Bug) being the biggest non-luxe sellers still on the market. Otherwise you need to go Luxe: BMW, Audi, Mercedes....

Convertibles are a pita unless it's a retractable hardtop. Ragtops are way too noisy on the highway and a pain to keep them conditioned properly so they don't rot. Then you have to worry about some jealous punk slicing it because your car is nicer than his. I like that Chevy brought back removable hardtops for the Camaro & Corvette.

All depends on how you take care of them.

That's what I said originally. Keeping them conditioned to last long term can be a pain. Obviously keeping your ragtop garaged, out of the rain, etc will also help. But frequent use over the years also tears them up. I haven't seen too many ragtops that have faired well after 6-7 years of use.
