my contract is up in october buy then if the phone does release at 299 it may have went down like 50 bucks.This phone has not been hyped buy verizon or motorola only buy hopeful users of the device there is no billboards bus signs or commercials just a email to sign up for more info.

Not yet, its not ready for that yet. But they will.

You'd think so, but look how much advert they haven't put out for the D3 :motdroidhoriz: - and it's in stores already! I think they forgot that people don't buy things they don't know about.

Droid-life reported there is a huge marketing campaign planned for the Bionic and an ad from Best Buy has already been leaked. The D3 will be on sale for at least a year so Verizon isn't going to worry about spending millions of dollars just to tell people its released. The Bionic isn't just going to be Motorola's flagship phone, but its gonna be the phone Verizon hopes can really sell people on their 4g. The marketing campaign is coming but its not gonna happen until they have it ready to go.

Remember the motorola razer it was the it phone for years i think until the iphone
i feel motorola is hoping for those sales numbers again the only way they will get those numbers is if the phone releases and it has no problems and great reviews its been awhile since a phone has released with no problems hopefully all these delays are worth the wait and future hipe

The Droid 3 received a soft launch just like the Droid 2 did. They're looking to try to still move some of the stock of the Droid 2 Global. That's why there hasn't been any advertising. Plus, the advertising for 3G phones has been minimal overall compared to LTE.

At $199, it's a guaranteed pre-order for me. At $299, it's still likely, but not 100%. If it's something like $349, I'm going to have to seriously consider going with something else.

Also, keep in mind you can often find little codes floating around online for discounts. It's not much, but anything helps.

When I bought my Droid last summer, I found a 10% floating around online and ended up getting it for $179.99
