Smart Lock>Trusted Places Stopped Working At Home

[me just sayin]

Hasn't worked right since right after I cleared cache and reboot, so I don't know if it was the cache clear, or the reboot.
I had checked the location numerous times, and it was always right on.
Today I've tried something different, I removed the Home location saved in Trusted Places, shut down cleared cache, restart, and set home again in Trusted Places.
Upon completion of that, it is working again.....but let's see if it lasts.

all deleting cache does is delete old unused files. It does not touch settings and such. it works like deleting the temporary files folder on your computer. give a bit more working and storage space and make sure apps look for the newer files.

since I got my note 8 I also have been having problems with location aware on my security cams. when I did a search there seems to be a lot of issues with the note 8 location aware. even the settings no longer had my full address for location aware, it gave the town making it too general to be useful. personally I believe it is a phone issue.

3 +/- hrs later, it's not working again.
Now trying this. Went into Trusted Places and clicked on Home, and clicked on Turn off this location.
Then added a trusted location (not titled home) here @ home.
Immediately, it began unlocking as it should.

Ill keep you posted as to how long it lasts.

Are you using on body detection? Are you setting the phone down for "long" periods of time?

No on body detection or "trusted devices" either.
It was set down for an hour or so.

I know when the feature was new, back in my Note 4 days, if the phone sat for long enough, it would require a PIN/etc to unlock. Think my Pixel XL still does this in the morning, but I'm not a morning person, so I can't say I've paid that much attention. Seems like I still use the fingerprint sensor when I first pick my phone up though.

I don't recall how long until it would ask again, but an hour doesn't seem very long.

I believe Smart Lock requires a PIN or password every 72 hours regardless of trust Settings, or maybe every 48. Something like that.

I didn't think it was even that long. I swear mine's "locked" in the morning every morning. Think it's more like 8 hours or something.

To the best of my knowledge, as long as I've been using it, (6 months) the only time that it has required me to enter my PIN is after a restart.

It definitely wants one after a restart. We'll all have to pay attention in the morning, but I swear mine's always locked when I wake up. Haha

Well it worked all of last night, through midnight.
Got up this morning, and not working again.
I gave it until noon, trying it occasionally, but it never would unlock as it used to.
Restart..... didn't help.
Editing the Trusted Place I made yesterday did not help.
Deleting the Trusted Place I made yesterday, and creating a new one allows Smart Lock to work properly again, and 1.5 hrs later (after not disturbing the phone) it is still working.

Mine was locked earlier when I took the dog out. You'd think it would work better when I'm outside my 2 story house... Other than that, it hasn't called for my finger. I'm still wondering if part of my problem is on body detection though.

After resetting my location yesterday, it worked the entire day as it should.
Last night I thought I'd try something different this morning if it was not working when I got up....and it was not working when I got up.

I left the house, and returned 2 hrs later, and it is working properly, without me touching any settings.

It's like leaving and coming home, refreshed my location or something.

That all sounds similar to the issues we had with the original trusted location functionality back in 2013 / 2014. You would think all of those bugs have been worked out by now? I used to use it all the time on my wife's Turbo 2 and Moto Z Play, and never had any issues. Since we bought her a smartwatch she uses Trusted Device as her smart Lock and I disabled Trusted Location.

It continued to work today, until 2:30 pm.
I left it alone again, as I was going to go out soon.
I left again for a couple of hours, but this time when I came home, it didn't refresh and didn't start working again.
I'll stop posting about it unless something changes.
