SMS Messaging Bug Sending Texts to Wrong Recipient on Android

Is Handcent SMS that great of a app? I am still on the OG DROID and it slowing down quiet a bit from day one but still a Beast of a phone. I keep thinking about trying Handcent it just don't want my phone to slow down or any miss direct text to the wrong people. I am up for a upgrade but I am waiting to for the duel processor phones.

This happened to me like 5 times since I got my D1 a year ago. Somehow it ALWAYS seems to happen at the worst times like then I sent my girlfriend a message saying "Mmm can't wait till later babe raaarrr" and somehow my boss got it and was like "hmm thank you" --- Or just a few days ago I said to my friend "Stop taking those stupid pills man" and my dad texts me back saying "What do you mean?"

I was told by a few people to download and use Handcent because there were MUCH less errors like these when using that as your main SMS app. I am on it now in hopes my boss doesnt get any future texts like "gunna skip work tomorrow and just drink!" Haha cause that would be bad...

:rofl3::rofl3: That was a good one

This happened to me also when I switched to cyanogenmod like someone mentioned above. Everyone claims its the best stock style rom but I'm having far less problems with the new miui or stock rom.

Anyone had this happen with GV or just with 'carrier' based txts?? Curious as I only use GV for txts and haven't seen it yet (then I don't txt a lot either).

Also is it limited to cooked ROMs or is it happening with stock ROMs as well?

They rate it as "priority-medium" and have known about it for 6 months.

Seriously... 6 months and a 'medium' priority... and Google really want Android to be considered a 'major player'... I could expect that type of response from Apple as it wouldn't really hurt them much... but for a 'start-up' OS this type of response shouldn't be acceptable (if it's being found in stock ROMs, cooked ROMs are another matter).

This has happened to me. Went to my brother and not my wife. He still sends me texts asking me if I'm giving "it" to him.

Just happened to me last Sunday when they moved Eagles game. I typed a bunch of dirty things complaining etc to a friend and it went to one of my customers who is Egyptian and doesn't follow football at all.

Needless to say it was a little embarrassing.

It has probably happened to me about 10x in the 13 months I have had my OG

Since I got my D1 last february, I've been using handcent sms...and still do today on my D2. This problem has happened to me probably 10-15 times since I first got the D1. It doesn't happen frequently, but it actually just happened yesterday. Im a student at VT and a bouncer at a bar in town. I was pissed cause my manager said I would be working new years eve...which is basically the only reason I came back to town. I was talking to a coworker via txt. I was *****ing to him about it cause I was pissed, using profanity. After I sent it, I noticed it wasn't at the bottom of the conversation. I was like "oh $#%&!!!" Cause the txt I received just before that was my manager lol. Luckily it just randomly got sent to my friend jordan. I had no idea this was a common problem...kinda ticks me off now. Good news is that I was asked to work tonight dancedroid

I was afraid to use handcent because of many comments about sending to wrong person. So, it's not due to that but a bug in the OS.

I have definately had this happen to me a few times...

Send a text to one of my buddies, telling him that I loved him in spanish... little awkward...

I have had this happen to me. I can see this breaking up relationships by sending you wife something instead of your mistress.

I've always used Chomp and never had this happen, that I know of anyway. but i always get txts from a buddy thats meant for others and he's stock unrooted using default. his D1 also calls people at random, to say the least he wants nothing to do with android now.
