So I took my Droid on vacation...

A few apps to help out.

Make sure everyone is downloading the application task killer and some sort of battery app. The task killer will prevent the droid from slowing down if you use it from time to time. The droid has a limited amount of onboard memory to run apps and other tasks so it needs to be cleared out maybe once a day depending on use. This could be why people are seeing it crash too...

There are a lot of battery apps out there, but all you need is one that will turn off all the things that ruin your battery life at night. Simply set it to when you normally go to bed and normally wake up. It will disable all bluetooth, wifi, and phone transmitters and then turn them back on in the morning. For those of you who use it as an alarm, most of these apps will allow the alarm to continue to operate.

Everything I've read about Android says it does not slow down with unused apps running although I do have TasKiller installed. Android is supposed to be good at killing off unused apps when it needs more memory. So I don't think this is the problem, rather, probably an app which isn't behaving properly but I haven't tried to track it down.

Good idea on the battery app thing. I've got to look for a good one.

A couple of weeks ago I drove from Santa Fe, NM to Phoenix, AZ. I had 3G coverage almost the entire way, including in some remote areas of AZ. I used the navigation and listened to streaming radio the whole trip. At the hotel in Phoenix I ran speedtest and 3G was much faster than the hotel's WiFi.

I'm in Puerto Rico now and there is no 3G coverage here, only 1x. I've also had a problem getting the GPS to lock on for some reason.

I'm still loving the phone and am looking forward to the update.
