Solved-Turn off notification sound?

I'm getting a notification sound on incoming emails and text messages which I'd like to turn off. I've gone to settings/sound & notification/default notification ringtone and set it to 'none', but I still get the noted notification sound. Any idea how to turn that off? Thanks.

Have you tried the settings within the Apps you are using?

Thanks, Jeffrey, yes I have. I'm using Gmail, and there doesn't appear to be an option to turn notification sounds on or off in the settings...

Sure there is. In gmail click on the 3 lines in the left top corner, Click settings, Select your email, Inbox sound &vibrate.
