Someone please explain this "pure Android experience" I keep hearing about...

You can also think of the "pure android experience" as being "stock" android. The only pure android experience devices as far as i know are the nexus devices. Why people including myself love about the nexus is how easy they are to mod it since they are very easy to root and unlock their bootloaders. The nexus might be more for a "power user" but i say they provide a wonderful experience to anyone. They also receive os updates first and more often than the other devices.
I'm not saying that non-nexus devices are bad, there are some really cool devices out there.
 
There have been non-Nexus devices that are stock before...The Droid 1 was not a Nexus device, but was completely stock. The Xoom tablet was another one. I am sure there are others.
