I would have a difficult time with the transition, I have become so accustom to my theme and capabilities on my Original Droid, and it has been almost a year in the making....even the thought of starting over is somewhat overwhelming but those thoughts can easily be put aside for the fact that there isn't one thing I find wrong with my D1---at this point it is all just temptation
I have two PC's and a Mac. My Mac rocks, my PC's are old. I'm more comfortable doing things on my Mac.
Just like rooting my Droid, I always did it with my Mac. Anyway, I don't have my D2 yet, it will be here Monday. I went back to stock on my Droid last night so I could get a look at basic 2.2 and how it stands up against the D2. That also gives me the opportunity to see if I want to stay withe the D2 or go for the X.
I waited about 15mins. It runs, then returns me to my root folder within a minute or two...always same result...gives me a $. It never boots me out of the command window. I don't have to move the files to the SD root with this method, do I? Anything else I can try?

They're in my android/tools folder but not on the SD card...didn't realize that needed to be done with this method. Does the device need to be in mass storage mode if I start fresh with your method?
Thought I'd set up ADB correctly, based on my research. Just have to download SDK, then change the location of the directory to c: and add it to environment variables? Confirmed by running "adb devices". Was that correct?
Sorry for all the noob questions...my first droid.
yea, ur on right track, enable mass storage, drag files to root of sd card, then start over.
remember to take the 4 files out of sd and tools when ur done
