Sourcery 2.2 - Full Version

Just wanted to say thanks to all that keep this Rom alive with so much support. Been looking for an alternative to GB for some time as it's just too buggy and aggravating to be used on my Droid. Tried Sourcery awhile back with the 2.0 then 2.2 install but by not investigating proper install instructions, used TB to reinstall apps and data and wound up with many FC's and overall poor performance. Thanks to this thread and with all the good advise, I've finally got the best of both worlds, a great working phone with a ton of options.

Using Chevy's 05/31/11 LV 1.1ghz kernel, and it FLIES with this rom. Bootlooped the first time after I had flashed it, so went back to recovery, wiped dalvik and cache, rebooted and it worked like a charm.
Must say I like this rom very much. Came over from Liquid Gingerbread 2.1 after reading some posts on that board praising Sourcery. Loved Liquid but Gingerbread is just too buggy on the OG. Never had a day without at least one lockup, issue or problem. Navigation crashing my phone in the middle of directions on the highway was the final straw.
This rom is very solid, no problems at all. Some of the themes are not aesthetically as pleasing as the ones you can use with the GB theme chooser, but that has just pushed me to take a look into putting together my own theme.

exact same boat as you. i was running LGB 2.1, nav reboots, camera issues. liquid is a great dev, its just that on a phone with 256 mb, a lot of hassle to make gingerbread work, going back to a froyo rom after so many months, i just forgot how awesome they are on our droids, flashing chevys 1.1 ghz lv kernel now...

Yes, I too am using the 5/31 kernel, ulv1.25ghz.
I have mine oc'd to 1.25 and haven't had any problems. Just a fast phone.

I gave up on that app. Every time I tried to use it with Sourcery, I ended up in a boot loop. Not only that, but if you switch between different ROMs, it makes it a MAJOR PITA, as ROM Manager cannot restore the apps stored in the sd-ext partition reliably and I end up having to delete and reinstall all of the apps I moved over.
I found that I can just use Froyo's built in SD Card support to move enough apps off of internal memory to the external card so that I can install all of the apps I want on our limited-memory OG Droids. ROM Manager (nandroid) has no issues backing up and restoring apps placed on the SD card in this manner, either, so I've deleted Link2SD and don't miss it in the least.
@bigee, if there's a performance hit it's negligable; I've never noticed.
@buell, Nandroid backs up both android/secure and sd-ext so Nandroid works either way. If u don't have too many apps and don't want to move any apps with widgets to SD and don't mind waiting after boot for your apps on SD to load then froyo/GB native apps to SD function is indeed fine, but the link2sd implementation is much more elegant and functional since you can also relocate the dex and lib files.
Since link2sd puts a symlink in place of the files, TiBu and other backup schemes just follow the link and backup the actual files from the sd-ext partition as if they were local, there are no issues on a restore other than having to run link2sd afterward to move them back to the sd-ext since TiBu will restore them to the local file system. Not a biggie.

ROM Manager may back them up, but I've NEVER gotten it to restore them reliably. I just gave up... didn't see any benefit to link2sd. Yes, it can move a LOT more apps off the phone to the sd card... but the increased boot time, flaky recovery, and boot loops it caused Sourcery made me decide it just wasn't worth it.
It also doesn't work with Bugless Beast unless you do a "Soft Reboot" from the app after you've done a full reboot.
It did work pretty flawlessly with the two GB-based ROMs I've tried, but I had so many issues with those I've abandoned GB for the time being.

Just formatted SD card made two fat32 all is working well with Chevy ulv 1ghz and link2sd . Highly recommend not dealing with GB at the moment.... sorcery is working great! (My only complaints are some of the apps chosen to be included in system/app.. but I just manually removed via tibu) .

@buell: the only thing flaky is many kernel devs support for ext2/3/3, hence my suggestion to use FAT32.
As to restoring from rom manager, since it makes an image and then restores it byte for byte, if it worked when u saved it, it will work when u restore. The only thing I can think is that u are making a Nandroid backup then flashing a new rom then doing an advanced restore to just restore your installed apps to the new rom. If so, even if you've moves ALL your apps to the sd-ext with l2sd, u need to restore /sd-ext AND /data. If u just restore /sd-ext then yes you'd not have them back because you didn't restore the symlinks in /data to tell the system that the actual files are on your SD.
I've used link2sd on every froyo (sourcery, DC, pe, cm6, lfy, ss, Bb) and gingerbread (lgb, cm7, GPA, ss, pe, miui) rom I've tried since l2sd came out, and once I switched to FAT32 I never had another problem on any of them.
Its a great app; you're welcome to not like it but your bashing it doesn't make much sense unless u just had problems with your kernel's implementation of ext2/3/4, which is not the apps fault.

Nope... my second partition is also FAT32 because a lot of the ROMs I've played with didn't support ext2. By the way, ext2 is the better choice of the native Linux file systems. It DOESN'T do "journaling" so it's not only faster, but since solid state memory media (like your microSD card) have a finite number of read/write cycles, won't wear the card out as quickly either. But FAT32 does make a lot more sense as it is compatible with ALL Android ROMs.
