D1 was by far my favorite, Iphone4 is a great device, I really want the GNex, hoping it comes down to the $200 range soon although I still want to pick up another D1(lost mine) just because it was a blast to tinker with

love this phone.. rooted but haven't loaded up any roms yet. ics is just so nice stock. i do have some of the cool boot animations thou.
as for big, my girl has a t-bolt and my nex might be a tad longer, like a 1/4in. but same width and why thinner and with its curve. it fits in my pocket much nicer than even my thick boxy D1 did. so everything you hear about a gnex being to big is just plain hype. if you like the 4.3in screen phones. this phone is a tab bigger but feel smaller and handles better on a daily bases.
as for a real keyboard. i do miss having one a bit, but not the D1's really. it was never a great keyboard. i miss my old sidekick 3's keyboard. now that keyboard got **** done. but really, try a few different keyboards, i use swiftkeyx and you will be fine pretty quickly.
D1 to galaxy nexus. Actual phone size is the same as the razor and similar phones if you don't pull out a ruler. Just uses more of the phone for the screen. The curve is a big plus for me. Fits much better in my pocket then the D1 ever did.
No keyboard isn't as big a deal as I thought it would be. I don't type that much as it is anyways.
A lot of people on the Bionic originated from the D1..
Obviously, OG-->Bionic.. My OG was rooted and finally put to rest once half of the screen stopped working after 2 years and 2 months.. It has the most peculiar coffin.. It sits comfortably in my Droid Bionic's box.. We buried it in the backyard..
Okay, we didn't bury it, but it does have its coffin in my Bionic's box.. I kinda wish that my OG was give to me in the box it came from, I bought it in-store and after activation and everything, they were like "Eh, most of this stuff is unpacked now" and they kinda just handed me everything I needed, so I never had a box for it.. How ironic it is that the box of the phone that replaced it would be its coffin..
OG to thunderbatterydepleater. Love the phone...for the 4 hours it runs before needing a charge. *exaggeration* HOWEVER just got the wife the razr maxx...epic battery with no form penalty. Amazing phone.
D1 to Thunderbolt was a bit weird getting used to a bigger screen and no physical keyboard, but I got used to it pretty fast. The Galaxy Nexus is wonderful.
Droid 1>Samsung epic>HTC evo>Samsung galaxy s (3 of each carrier expect captivate),HTC g2,Droid incredible. Now Google NEXUS S.
Out of the device I have and sold. I love original droid and Google NEXUS s. Droid 1 was best I'm my option just hate the way moto made physical keyboard. Google NEXUS S for super amoled
There are a few things that aren't perfect (no NFC, pentile screen, low resolution, some minor issues with the keyboard layout) but for the most part I'm very happy with the upgrade.
But, my contract just came up, so I'm in the market. I'd go with the Rezound, but not at $199. I'm equally interested in the Razr, but again, it's a price point issue. (The GNex, obviously, is right out.)
I looked at the LG Spectrum today, and although I liked the look of it, I wasn't impressed by the voice quality.
So, now it's a waiting game... maybe they'll bring back the $99.99 pricing...!
