Steinheil Crystal

Ordered a Crystal on friday, shipped yesterday. My hopes for the Crystal are that it reduces smudges and figerprints (I dont expect it to do as good a job as the anti-fingerprint) without sacrificying the awsomeness of the naked screen.

Installed the Crystal over the wknd. Having had the Anti Fingerprint for two weeks, I enjoyed the texture. Very smooth, even when the fingers are slighty moist (perfect for swype). Great on smudges and so forth, but clarity....2 thumbs down.

Now with the Crystal? Man...forgot what I was missing. The brightness, clarity, etc.....It is night and day difference. And the smudges is not that bad. Obviously more than AF, but other benefits are just too much.

Yes, you can and do get used to looking at the screen through the AF. But bringing back from the dead, the beautiful screen on the Droid using the Crystal makes me happy. Never would I choose anything again with AF features......

just my personal opinion....:icon_ banana:

I installed my Crystal, and despite the fact that I screwed up pretty good on the install it came out really well and truly doesn't look like anything is there. I got a bit of dust under the screen but you can barely see it. It still shows fingerprints just like the regular screen but that never bothered me in the first place. I'm just glad to have a little more insurance

It won't. You really have to go with the Anti-Fingerprint if that's what you're after. I'm constantly wiping finger grease (which causes rainbow streaks) off my Crystal.

all i have are bubbles with the crystal... this is frustrating.
Are they caused by dust? If not, did you try to squeeze them out?

I disagree. There are still smudges, but nowhere near as bad as with a bare screen. Crystal definitely reduces smudges and prints.

I got mine and put it on yesterday... some observations.

I was concerned because it has a blue hue to it. This may have been the proector film or not, but I don't notice it on the phone itself. The clarity seems great from any angle. It's hard to say for sure how good it is though unless I get used to it and then remove it to compare or do a side by side with a naked droid.

It definitely does not have "no feel" or a "same as the glass" feel to it. I can absolutely tell it is on. It's not bad like some, and there is no "orange peel" feel to it, but it's not glass, nor does it feel like glass. The sensitivity is not horribly affected, but it is a tiny bit, but tolerable. I assume I'll get used to both very quickly. I've had cheaper films on other phones with a better feel to them (more like glass) than this, but they weren't as clear and would show rainbows, etc.

It is better on fingerprints than the glass, but not great. I wouldn't trade the clarity for more fingerprint/smudge proofing.

It went on pretty easily compared to other films, so that was nice.

It is a dust magnet. More little particles of dust stick to the screen when removed from my fabric protector/pouch than ever. That stuff didn't stick to the naked glass, but does to this film. It wipes off easily enough, and you don't really notice it with the backlighting on, but you do with it off... just like fingerprints/smudges.

The Blue layer film is the protection film that you remove after installation..
Try peeling it off or use scotch tape to remove it.
After you remove it, feel it :D it's like glass. I hope you see this msg.

I have got to stop reading these forums. The peer pressure forced me to go order one of these! Well that and the fact that I don't like my current screen protector ><

I had the invisishield. It served its purpose, but it was sooooo sticky. It would get stuck to everything. I'm in the market for a new one now...

It is removed. I said in my post that I was concerned but it looked fine and I thought it must be the protective layer. It may be "like glass" compared to other protectors, but not compared to the actual glass on the Droid. It is a fine protector and possibly the best all around protector for this phone, but it too has it's limitations.

I recently put my Crystal on, and it went on very easy and fits very well. One problem is that I have ONE long piece of dust/thread under it, and it drives me crazy. It's on so perfectly that I can't bring myself to remove it for that one piece. I will say that I think fingerprints came off the naked glass much easier and more completely than they do now, and it does attract more dust, but at least it's protected (if it even needs to be).

As muchas I would recommended this to people, after dust getting under my second one, I'm going naked, I'm a very careful person so I don't see the need, the screen handles my daily usage.
