Stop me from jumping....

Thanks, that explains why I thought you could not talk on phone and use 3g at the same time. And it explains why the Rezound can and the Maxx can't. Great, now that means my son's Rezound has one advantage over my Maxx. I think I'm gonna keep that a secret from him for now, :-)

The Rezound, like the Thunderbolt, supports SVDO - simultaneous voice and data over 3G on CDMA networks. Since it requires some additional hardware, it's something that the manufacturer has to choose to include, and so far I believe only HTC has been doing it on Verizon. It's not a completely stable feature, which is why Verizon doesn't advertise it at all (plus the fact that not all of their phones do it, which would confuse many customers). Motorola hasn't included it in any of their devices, but it would be nice if they did.

DROID RAZR MAXXIMIZED!!!! PREPARE TO BE VANQUISHED!!!

My maxx has svdo. Unless I'm misunderstanding . I can be on a call and the net at same time. It even shows that on the how to use phone videos that are preloaded on the phone

Are you on wifi, 3g or 4g while talking on phone and simultaneously on the net. Wifi works while on phone and 4g does too, I believe... but on my Maxx I cannot with 3g.

Try it with just 3g, wifi off. My Maxx can only on wifi, but not if on 3g only.

I've done from wifi and 3g. I dont live in a 4g area.

The MAXX doesn't have the necessary SVDO hardware, so it can't do simultaneous voice and data on 3G only. Any smartphone can do voice and data while connected to WiFi and 3G, including the MAXX, but it's not SVDO.

Thank you! Thought something was wrong with my phone. I actually just watched the video that came on the phone and it does specifically say that you can simultaneously use voice and data while on the "4g" network.

Nope, nothing wrong with your phone. :) The MAXX only does simultaneous voice and data in two situations:

1) When connected to 4G (the phone uses the LTE radio for data and the CDMA radio for voice).

2) When connected to 3G and WiFi.

Yup, exactly my experience. And also when connected to wifi only.
