Well could you bring it up to help out if not you could use adb to push the update.zip to your sdcard and then apply the update. If not then I guess the only way would be rsd and I'm not familiar with it so I can't help much with it.

one of your choices from this screen is "partition menu". select it, and then you will see a "mount USB storage" choice on the next screen.
No it doesn't, I dont have it up right now. but it was something like

reboot
apply update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
wipe baseband

Aight man but im thinking you can mount in recovery that's why I asked fir you to double check.

when you select "mount USB storage", you can now access your sdcard from your PC. then, put a rom on the root of your sdcard (either a stock rooted rom or a custom rom), choose "unmount", and then you will be back to the previous screen. push the power button once, and that will take you back to the screen where you can install a zip from your sdcard.

there is no partition menu, It says
Android system recovery (3e)

Reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
wipe baseband data

you must not have root then... is that the screen you get when you do a hard boot into recovery?? ("x" plus power button)

Okay so i used rsd lite to get to 2.1 then did an update.zip to 2.2 and now when it says touch droid then press 1 to activate after it says activate succesful it goes back to touch the droid everytime.

did you reenter your gmail account info, password, and then let it sync? i'm not sure what you're referring to. every time i've done a wipe and installed a new rom, i've never had to do what you're describing. i do the "touch droid", and then it takes me to setting up my gmail...

It didn't take me to insert my gmail account like usual. just went to touch the droid then to an automated lady that said press 1 to activate your phone, then please wait...and then succesufull. and it took me back to touch the droid. and over and over.
