Sudden movement = Droid restart?

I've noticed that the Droid seems to restart if moved quickly. One day I had to run to catch a bus and when I got on the bus, it was in the process of restarting. Just now, I picked it up and due to my currently sprained wrist I accidentally dropped it on my luckily carpeted floor. No damage, but it restarted.

Is this common? Is this a safety feature? I think Macs have something similar to it.

^^^ +1

I saw another post on here where someone noticed that if he tapped the top of the Droid too hard, it would restart. He wedged a piece of paper behind the battery (on the side opposite the contacts) and it stopped happening.

Took it in and the guy said he was able to make it restart by shaking it. He replaced the battery, said it didn't happen again, and everything seems good now. Thanks all!
