Superuser but not rooted?

I followed http://www.droidforums.net/forum/hacking-faqs/39254-sbf-root-unroot.html to root my phone i have ninja in my app's but I don't think i'm rooted. I tried testing it out with terminal emulator but apparently terminal emulator is broken right now and all it does it force closes. I think it might have to do with the fact that pre 2.1 i was rooted with DM i went stock to get 2.1 update and I never deleted anything from my sd card. Anyone know how to help me so i can become rooted and install a custom rom?

oh and I didn't "wipe" before I did this rooting business, not sure what "wiping" even is or how to do it
