Swype vs SlideIT vs Shapewriter? All look great (and similar)!

The nice thing is that you can long press in any area you need to type and change your input method on the spot. So if one of the above it not working, just long press and change to another type of keyboard (you need to have all input method checked in your settings for this to work)

Also, I believe that there is not a need to long hold a word in swype for it to be added. If you manually type it and then hit the space bar it adds it. I may be wrong, but I thought I read this in the tutorial and even tried it. I personally jump between Swype and the droids virtual keyboard.

As for having the ability for Swype to only show in Portrait....That would be perfect. I have thought about this as well. Portrait mode Swype, landscape reverts back to your regular keyboard.

but you can just use the swype keyboard like a regular keyboard. Or is the default k/b better than swype as a 'manual' keyboard?

Just downloaded Swype and shapewriter. Definitely takes a bit of getting used to. I couldn't find the apostrophe on the Swype keyboard and it didn't assume that when I typed wouldnt it didn't add the apostrophe or even ask. Also, while looking I found a screen with a "select mode". More toys to learn.

Sucks you cant dl these for a week and still get a refund if they arent up to par. I dont text or email that much in 24 hours to get a good feel for it :(

I had never tried any of those other keyboards before other than swype. And I gotta say, shapewriter, allows more freedom in terms of words not in your dictionary... and if you'd rather type it out, you can with shapewriter. Now slideit i haven't tried yet, I'm typing this with shapewriter and as you can see i still haven't figured out how to capitalize...

There is a key on the right on the ShapeWriter keyboard with 2 arrows arranged in an oval that cycles through cases selections for you (typed using ShapeWriter).

I used Shapewriter a couple of times and didn't like it as much as Swype, aside from Swype being awful with auto-caps and spacing. Has anyone used SlideIT? It doesn't seem to be available yet but I wasn't sure if anyone was using a beta or something.

I did swype. I haven't tried any others. How do you do names on swype? It ALWAYS fuggs that up.

any word you can't swype...you can just type in just like the regular keyboard. after that the swype remembers it.

today i came across a very common word that no matter how many times i tried to swipe it ....it didn't know it. the word was nevermind lol. it recognized nm.

The word is actually 2 words. Never Mind. That's why it didn't recognize it.

i found myself swyping our touchscreen at work today.. it has me trained, and i love it.

I've been playing with Shapewriter and it seems like it works ok but I really like Swype better, seems to get my words faster and more accurately in my opinion. Swype also seems more smooth to me to than Shapewriter. Also I like how Swype fills up the whole width of the screen in landscape mode versus Shapewriter does not.
