Did you disable the other network adapters on that PC? I only get socket errors if I don't disable my wireless NIC first.

Worked great for me while my FIOS service was out for 2 days thanks to some idiot hitting the box at the corner with his truck.

Finally installed this and gave it a shot tonight. Everything installed flawlessly (I followed the directions) on my XP machine.

Posting this while tethered right now. Wireless card turned off and no network cable plugged in.

Just tried it again using a different server. Little bit better results...

I did the speed test on CNET and got 107.1kbps.
