I did search the forums (hopefully well enough).

Last night I tried USB tethering for the first time since my Froyo update. The only webpage that my laptop could access was this one:

https://dunsp.vzw.com/selfProvisioning/SelfProvisioningServlet

I'm kind of shocked, still a little numb. I don't recall reading anywhere that tethering, using the stock Froyo method, would require an additional fee.

That, in itself, is scary. Anyone else seen this?

Forgot.

Droid1, Froyo FRG22D, Rooted but running stock ROM.

If it's relevant, I have SetCPU and Barnacle Wifi installed. I can't think of any other apps that would affect this.

Yup, Verizon wants to charge a monthly fee for tethering. Check out PDAnet in the market. It's a tethering program. It's free for a couple of weeks, then after that it will only allow you access to unsecure webpages (http vs https). But it's pretty cheap to buy if you choose to.

However, since you're rooted already just use a custom rom that allows tethering for free!

Oh nevermind

Oh, nevermind....i see that you're already running barnacle wifi.

Verizon will try to squeeze every penny out of everybody.

Do you recall anywhere in the literature that said they would offer it for free?

Thanks

Been using PdaNet for months. I had thought that Froyo would negate its need.

Why don't I recall reading about the fee anywhere??
