Text message alert problems

I have a Droid X. I have a specific ringtone for when I get a text message. Sometimes, I get the ring tone. Sometimes, I get 2 notes. Sometimes, I get nothing. I am really in trouble with my GF. Please help.

Try clearing the cache of your messaging app. Also make sure the notification sounds in your messaging app is checked on.

I downloaded Handcent SMS and that works really well. Thanks for your reply
