I downloaded handcent and took off the other message icon that was on phone when I got it, but how do I just get the messages not to show up through the old massage yet? I get 2 same texts in each one?
I have deleted the factory message too?

I get duplicate messages too sometimes. As for getting a text on the stock app, that's going to happen. Just kill the home screen icon and turn of the notifications and use the other that you like.

I did put the stock one in trash can, but still getting them both?

go to the stock messaging app >menu >settings >un-check all of the boxes

Putting the homescreen icon in the trash doesn't delete or deactive the app, or turn notifications for it off. You need to open the stock mesenging app, hit menu, then settings and turn notifications off. I'd also turn "auto retrieve" off and set my text message limit really low and set it to delete older texts.
